i'm passing this query on from a friend, and it has had me stumped. sorry i
don't have any of the logs or anything here ATM, but i can get my hands on
them if anyone needs to see them
duron 700,
256MB RAM
rtl8139 network card (which works in my system fine)
the cable modem, in my setup anyway, works doing DHCP to the system it is
connected to, however it will not respond to his redhat 7 system at all,
the boot messages say that it has been unable to obtain an
address. ifconfig does see the card and it has been set to use dhcp in
linuxconf. it may be a problem with his dhcp client software, but I'm not
too sure about reconfiguring redhat, been too long since i last used
it. anyone have any ideas?
