Thanks for the various offers of copies of Mandrake. I've already got the
basic Mandrake OS installed, and I've decided it's the Linux distro I want
to go with. It's now Mandrake-optimised software (MySQL and/or Postgres for
a start) that I'm after, plus the code libraries to teach myself Perl or
php or have another go at learning Java. I'm willing to pay the 50 odd for
the full commercial version, as it's much cheaper than buying Access and
Photoshop to put on my MS system (even the basic version of Mandrake comes
with Gimp bundled). But thanks once again for the offers.
Incidentally, Borders currently have RedHat 7.1 and SuSe 7.2 in stock. I
haven't tried RedHat, but I couldn't get earlier versions of SuSe to
install properly, whereas Mandrake 8.0 went on no bother, so it's the one
I'll be using.
Tom Shearer.
