When I arranged my installation with BT I asked the Linux question, they do not care. The only thing they do is install the router (Box on wall) and the exchange stuff (and they will install it anywhere up to 50m from your master phone jack). It is up to you to do the rest (ISDN Adapters, phones etc and install software). Of course, this may be different now ... :)
If you buy the BT (Fritz) ISDN Card it comes with a Windows disk that installs the card and applications (Answerphone, fax, phone and some other guff). Also comes with a 6m cat5 cable to go to your box. I spent some time on the linuxnewbie forum before getting ISDN, everyone using a reasonable modern distro seemed to get it running with relative ease, it auto-detected for me on RH7.0 (my first distro). You can get all the Linux ISDN Applications (Answer phones, dialers, config tools, Fax's etc etc) at www.linux.org/apps - just search for ISDN. If you do go ahead check the Fritz Website as they have sme app's for linux (in German last time Ilooked). I found getting ISDN to work was easier with linux (automatic near enough) compared to windows98 using BT's 'Cardware' installation. RE ISP's. I am on BT Some Of the Time (They call it Anytime but ... ) and would not recommend it to my worst enemy, it is cheap though. I use Clara.net for work, they are reliable and responsive and offer a heap of packages, may be worth a look for you. The Box (ISDN Router). If your other half makes a hundred calls a night like mine does then mount the box away from your work station - every time the phone hangs up the box sqeaks - seriously bl**dy annoying :-) I'd hate to go back to a modem now, speed of dialling is great, and the ability to surf the net during long boring phone calls is great. I'm still envious of those with cable or ADSL though ...
