Look at Homestead -- www.netshop.co.uk -- who generally sell a good range
of Wireless kit. Last time I looked they had at least Cisco, Buffalo and
D-Link in base stations (which is what they call the thing I think you
are describing), PCMCIA cards and PCI bus adaptors.
Real base stations don't need to be driven by windoze applications and can
often be configured with a web browser or some equivalent.
