The sb-menu and sb-conf tools are exclusive to Scratchbox 1.0 (and Apophis) branches.
In the legacy branch (pre-1.0), sbox-config is used. The Apophis r4 release includes a support for legacy toolchains (in addition to repackaged Apophis versions of those toolchains). If you want to avoid the bug, use Apophis r4. The fix to this bug has included in the legacy branch only partially. As said earlier in [1], the easiest fix is to set your system to use bash as default sh.
