Generally, a FULL TIME hourly employee would be paid holiday pay every day 
that work is not available to them because of a holiday.
    Perhaps you could explain that you shut down the week of Christmas and 
she will need to save vacation time for this week if she wants paid for more 
than the obvious paid holidays.
    XMAS, New Year's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (although not necessarily 
the day after), Memorial Day and July Fourth are the six customarily 
recognized paid holidays.
For most employers it a necessary benefit to maintain quality, loyal 
employees.
