Thanks to the help from John and the Chief, I decided on the Athlon and got a SD-11 motherboard for the slot a. So far so good. But when I boot, the machine just sits there. The hard disk spins up and everything appears to be ready to boot but I get no video UNTIL I press reset! Then the &^#*%^&$ thing works like a charm. I checked the site and applied the latest ROM patch, so I know that the bios is ok.
