Which version of XFree86 do these distro's use (as well as which version of gcc and qt are in use)? There has to be something in common between the two as under SuSE, RedHat, MacOSX and even ARMLinux there have been no problems. I'm not trying to aportion blame or avoid going bug hunting, but it does seem strange that it is only these two distros we're having a problem with.
