Greg, I had this same problem with Scribus on Mandrake 10.0. It is a bug in one of the Mandrake libraries (or something) causing the problem, not Scribus. Unfortunately this was some months ago and I have since installed 10.1, so I can't remember which library it was. I solved it by updating the rpm, after which Scribus worked fine. Sorry I can't be more specific but hopefully that will put you on the right track. I found the solution by doing a google search...hope that helps. Peter
