Sebastian, Synaptic can handle that, but you have to tell it to. There is a "Reload" button in the toolbar, or an "Edit>Reload Package Information" menu entry, or a Ctrl+R key combination that will all accomplish the same thing that apt-get update does. Regards, Alex.
