Hi Luis, First of all, I am Anousak, a Lao Open Source developer for OpenOffice, Mozilla's browser and email products, KDE and GNOME, UBuntu and others. Now, together with a friend Brian Wilson in Mission Colleage Thailand would like to pursue Scribus so that our colleauges and friends in Laos can benefit from this unique product. However, Scribus doesn't support Lao in rendering the UNICODE font that we have namely Phetsarath OT (attached here). This is font was created with OpenType specification and it is 100% UNICODE. I understood that this type of support was lacked for Asian languages, Lao is included. This work, as far as I am concerned, is being discussed and talked among the developers in the forum.
My machine is Ubuntu 7.04: 1) Scribus latest version, not work for Lao font and input via xkb or via Ubuntu's input method 3) Lao font installed and work for other applications, only Scribus that won't work. 4) Open Office works 5) Lao xkeyboard works By the way, someone mentioned that the next version will include OpenType support. Any suggestions?
