I will first try the path suggested by Borut - by installing a larger Linux distribution in the hope, that it includes everything needed for SDCC development right off. I will most probably still need guidance, though. If this fails, comes plan B: win tools... :-) This brings the following idea: could all tools necessary for SDCC development be grouped and placed possibly together with some lightweight distribution of Linux on a CD, so that they work simply out of the box? Of couse this is a task far beyond my reach, so all I can do in this respect is to ask... Jan PS.
