Roland, please let me rephrase my last paragraph - I think I just had to let out some steam and it points to the wrong direction. In fact, I'm very happy with the product development in the last year - it's stable, a lot faster and eZ focuses on important features. It's a huge difference to what we had before. I know, it's the opposite of what I said in my previous email - but that's how I think about it and probably a lot of other partners. My steam came from that yet another interesting way to push eZ Premium.
I still think that the "information widget" is on the edge of an "Ad unit". I'm one of your partners, my feedback is that the normal content editor doesn't need the info on his dashboard saying "your installation is not up to date and that he has to contact eZ System" I'm sure you'll get some interesting phone calls :) A system admin probably knows about "/ezinfo/about" to verify the current product version. If the "information ad" is helping you to sell eZ Premium - you should do it. I will just disable it for our smaller clients who do not have the budget for eZ Premium - yes they still exist.
