I'd say there's going to be one catalyst for emo to be the "next big 
thing"... if the economy goes south like everyone knows it will sooner or 
later, or if the country suddenly realizes that we're in this huge moral 
funk. Emo's in like its second or third year of popularity, and it's ripe to 
move into that spot as "flavour of the month". But it's going to take 
something to depress the entire country. A massive recession can do that. 
Then people will be looking away from extroverted music like Br*tn*y Sp**rs 
and R*cky M*rt*n and want something more introverted. Then rock will make 
its comeback because rock has always been based on introspection.

Just my $.02. I went ahead and put on my asbestos jacket for the oncoming 
flames.
