I also decided to listen to the new cd, and I guess I'm glad I did because from fist
listen I really don't like it... So now when I buy it I won't have huge expectations
that just won't be met. The Ocean is actully one of my favs on it.. many of the songs
remind me of "The Prophet" and "100 Million" - meaning there is "potential" in the
song, some good parts here and there, but they just don't sound too good as a finished
product... And unfortunatly, many songs remind me of "Roses" and "Two Promises"..
songs that just shouldn't have made it onto a SDRE CD.. I'm glad they are back
together and putting out new material, but on first listen I wouldn't buy this if it
was anyone other than SDRE.. I won't listen to it again until I buy the actual CD,
and since I have much reduced expectations maybe it will actually grow on me and I'll
love it.. After all.. It has to sound better on my Stereo than comming out of my
computer speakers from an MP3 file... I'm not expecting SDRE to recr!

eate Diary or LP2, but I guess I just hoped that they would have enough good songs to
hold my interest seeing them live... They don't need to keep making the same CD over
and over, but I wouldn't mind if they only played the earlier material live... I don't
know how much Nate contributed to the structure of SDRE songs, but something (bad ass
Bass included) just seems to be missing... I thought some of you said there were fast
songs and slow songs.. everything seemed mid to me.. nothing seemed really heavy and
rocking, and the Ocean was the Only slow song to me.. The last song "tide" seemed
kinda slow, but it had too many parts that didn't seem to fit.. It would sound all
pretty and then all of a sudden the chord progression seemed out of place.. I don't
know, I just hope it was my crappy speakers.. Maybe I'll burn it and give it one more
listen before the CD is released and it will sound better to me..
