Re: (313) Best Drexciya
Has anyone mentioned 'Sightings in the Abyss'? Something about that track is sooo spooky, I just wish it was longer. 'Wavejumper' on the flip is probably equal for me, it seems totally live. I guess both tracks were recorded live and jammed out, they sounds raw as f*ck, but very funky. Drexciya Forever
RE: (313) Best Drexciya
what I want to say about drexicya (among james other projects) can't be derived by compairing favorite tracks. I can say for sure that James is not only a personal favorite musician, but my favorite creator of art throughout all mediums of expression. Sometimes you just have to look at what people have done with their lives and think to yourself congratulations. For all drexciyans everywhere. -jason
RE: (313) Best Drexciya
I think I'll risk giving an all-time favourite: Drexciya Aqua Wormhole- (UR) .. (Apart from ;-) : Translussion - Transmission of Life - (fr 'Opening Of The Cerebral Gate'; Drexciya - You Don't Know... (UR) Drexciya - Aquabon - (fr 'The Quest' [which incidentally I only recently worked out is an aquatic allusion to 'Autobahn'] Drexciya - Birth Of New Life- (fr 'Harnessed The Storm'; Drexciya - High Tech Nomads (fr 'Grava 4') Drexciya - Neptune's Lair (fr the beginning to the end!) k

Indidentally, re. Dopplereffekt, whom someone mentioned: it was established that there was some link? The recent material sounds totally unrelated. Sorry if this topic is played out - however, I'd like to know. Perhaps any kind souls who know, might hit me back privately. Cheers, k

Re: (313) Best Drexciya
I don't really know the most popular Drexciya albums like Bubblemetropolis, so I'm guessing I'd like them better than Grava 4, but at the same time, I love this album. Its way deep compared to the other Drexciya I've heard, and while its a departure for them, its appriate to the theme- i.e. Deep Space! I can't find my copy of it, but I think depressurization is the blue one? The outer track on the b-side, the one with the bass that sounds almost like it came from a bass guitar, and the drum breaks sound organic too like they were played by a drummer? THIS TRACK I LOVE. those crazy synths burned my brain the first time I heard it so I forever will equate that style of techno/electro sounds with an Underwater perspective. Listening to that stuff makes me want to put on scuba gear and jump in the nearest body of water! RE: (313) Best Drexciya
Hmmm... I personally find that my favourite Drexciya release of all time is Bubble Metropolis. In fact I would go so far as to say that the opening ten/twenty seconds of Aqua Worm Hole are possibly the most perfect segment of sound to emerge from the Drexciyan labs... in fact I could wax poetic about some of the tracks on that EP all day, but as it's not track-based techno I sense I would be treading on certain people's sensibilities! -Original Message- From: Dan Sicko [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 09 May 2003 17:21 To: Roland van Oorschot Cc: Robert Taylor; 313 Mailing List Subject: Re: (313) Lab Rat XL (Was : New Drexciya album out!) Yes! I've changed my mind again! Black Sea has to be my favourite track. No, hang on, it's Antivapor Waves or is that Hydro Cubes. Yeah, I am torn between Journey Home and Bubble Metropolis... another historically-significant, epoch-defining Drexciya moment being the introduction of the strings on Black Sea! -Original Message- From: Arne Weinberg [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 09 May 2003 17:47 To: 313 Mailing List Subject: RE: (313) Best Drexciya My personal favourite is their S.I.D. release and also Journey home on Warp!! Pinpointing my favorite Drexciya track/release is impossible. That's like deciding which of your children you love the most. However, I can narrow it down 1. Astronomical Guidepost (Grava 4) 2. Dr Blowfins' Black Storm Stabilizing Spheres (Harnessed The Storm) 3. Drexciya - Wave Jumper - (Origins of a Sound Compilation//Submerge) 4. Dance of the Celestial Druids (Cosmic Memoirs) 5. Lonely Journey Of the Comet Bopp (Cosmic Memoirs)

My fave Drexciya track: Davy Jones Locker Released on the (rare?) comp. True People on the React label. Beautiful piano (!) riff, haunting bassline. Play this on my funeral, please... R. --- http://www.funxiun.com .dark.elektronix.
