Re: (313) Kerry admits it's over
Excellent choice. Well, the American people have voted. Now shows like Big Brother and Survivor make a lot more sense. This country is f*cked. Period. MEK: Music isn't going to save the American people from damnation... ---> Never said it would. I was just trying to see the silver lining behind the storm front. And pointing out that through music you can at least try to make a change. There's other ways of getting involved too, but - as Matt pointed out - that would be great for private discussions, but not on the list. John

Well, that's all nice but how does that affect Roe vs Wade? How does that affect the legal rights of non-citizens in the US? How does that affect if they really do intend to re-instate the draft? Music isn't going to save the American people from damnation... tune into http://www.kfai.org/ they're running Democracy Now and talking about how the viloence is going to step up quite a bit in Iraq because Bush doesn't need to worry about approval ratings anymore I'd hate to be there now and I feel for the soldiers and Iraqis almost equally MEK

I think the gop has succeeded in creating an atmosphere of fear so pervasive and a media blackout so effective, that the american people have begun a regression into the whacked-out puritan paranoia that founded this place.! --> I think that if people made a point of accessing more global(ly oriented) and 'alternative' media it could really make a difference in obtaining a more balanced view on a whole number of issues. And before I get in any trouble, sorry all, it's a real sore spot for me but I'll shut up now. Hows the job market in canada? I really would like to know from someone on ground zero. Any preference of canadian cities besides the tdot? Whatup with bc? --> Although I'm a strong supporter of a global exchange of ideas, hospitality and even residency, a large exodus of more leftwing oriented people probably wouldn't benefit the US itself. For obvious reasons... Will it all go to damnation? Well... I seem to rember a certain musical style (or at least currents within it) found a fertile breeding ground in the grim mood of the 80ies when Reagonomics and the virtual bankrupcy of the US due to the fight against the 'evil empire' (Does this sound familiar?) was weighing down big time on 'little folks'. RE: (313) Kerry admits it's over
Yo this was the most important election on earth in recent history. The effect that the elected president has the oportunity to have on the rest of the world is unprecidented. Obviously not too many people thought it through. I have a friend whose wife was kerry all the way and then voted bush last night because she couldn't bear to make her mom mad.!! WTF? The decision of the direction of our country hinges on someones maternal issues? This is not what the country needs and I feel it really underscores the (apparrently) overwhelming notion that it's okay to base life altering decisions affecting huge sections of our (earth's) populace on personal fears (whether real or suggested/planted by media). with regards to the outcome of the marriage laws, I think the gop has succeeded in creating an atmosphere of fear so pervasive and a media blackout so effective, that the american people have begun a regression into the whacked-out puritan paranoia that founded this place.!
