Friends, who are either employed with some ofthe companies we've been trying to reach, or some where they think they may be able to facilitate contact, have offered to try and help reach relevant persons, and weigh in on them about the issue. For that, one of my friends, has created a simple Google form to be able to understand which companies to get to, in order of priority, to get going. Re: [AI] Regarding accessibility issues with Axis Bank
axismobile is not at all accessible on my iphone s e with the latest update. compared with s b i, axis bank scores a big zero. - Original Message - From: "Mahesh S. Panicker" To: Sent: Wednesday, March 24, 2021 12:09 AM Subject: [AI] Regarding accessibility issues with Axis Bank Dear all, I am writing this in the context of my experience with the Axis Bank online banking system. I happen to be a credit card only user of Axis Bank. Axis has 2 basic channels for online banking the Axis Bank website, and the Axis Mobile App on Android and IOS platforms. For some reasons, Axis hasn't allowed me to register for online banking on the website, each time I tried to register online, the system said my customer ID was invalid. On asking, the customer care had no clear idea as to why this was happening, though someone in the sales department speculated that they allow only account holders to use the web interface and CC only users have only the mobile app. On asking around among users though, I came across CC only users using online banking on Axis website. I was using the Axis Mobile app on Android. At the outset when I started using the app, it was, like many banking apps, not a hundred percent in terms of accessibility. There were significant issues, but if you've been around Android a bit, then you could kind of use most features. However, I recently found out that after an update, the app has broken accessibility completely. There is no interaction whatsoever with on-screen content as far as TalkBack is concerned. It doesn't read any controls, just doesn't read anything really on the screen, no matter you touch and explore or swipe. It is the first time that I have come across a 100 percent inaccessible banking app, that too from a major bank in the country. Anyone else facing similar issues with Axis Bank? Any workarounds? Any help would be much appreciated. -- Dr. Mahesh S. Panicker Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Lajpat Nagar New Delhi 110024 -- Disclaimer: 1. But since the Bhim app is brought out by Government of India, and comes with more possibilities of instant transfer, would like to give it a go. But my experience with apps from the government in recent times have been pretty poor, whether that is LIC India or the National Pension Scheme NPS. Then Ola Money, the taxi-hailing company Ola's digital wallet app, saved the day. I simply had to load it with money using net banking or my credit/debit card, and the app was ready to go. On reaching my destination, I paid my fare digitally. It was instant and without the hassles of swiping my card, keying in a 16-digitnumber or logging on to a bank's website involving OTPs. I soon learnt this wallet could do much more-it could help pay phone bills, book flight tickets, order a pizza and even transfer money to another Ola Money account. With increasing smartphone penetration and easy access to the internet, this digital payment option is rapidly catching on. A recent study by Google and the Boston Consulting Group forecasts that India's digital payment industry is likely to be worth $500 billion by 2020. Already, mobile wallet companies like Paytm, MobiKwik, Citrus, Freecharge, PayU and others have been making our life easier. Recent Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data show that payments made through mobile wallets have increased from Rupees 29.05 million in 2013-14 to Rupees 205.84 million in 2015-16 and have surpassed mobile banking in terms of volume. If you haven't tried them, you should. Here's a quick guide to digital wallets that will help you use them better. How do you get started? Several e-commerce and telecom companies offer digital wallets. All you need to do is log on to their website on your computer or download their app on your smartphone, sign up with your email or mobile number and transfer funds to your wallet using net banking, IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) or your credit/debit card. Once the money is in your wallet you are all set. Types of wallets: There are three kinds of wallets-closed, semi-closed and open. A closed wallet is issued by a company for buying goods and services exclusively from it. For example, MakeMyTrip's MyWallet helps you manage your booking refunds on the site. Semi-closed wallets are the most common. They can be used at select merchants that have specifically entered into a contract with the wallet-issuing company. The wa

Re: [AI] jaws announcements on focussed table elements
IN a table having many rows, how does one proceed from one row to say row 44? what is the key stroke? - Original Message - From: "mukesh jain" To: Sent: Friday, February 26, 2016 10:32 AM Subject: [AI] jaws announcements on focussed table elements Hello, This is regarding jaws announcement while creating, editing and selecting the table elements. I am teaching someone who is at the beginner stage and learning to work in word 2003. He has jaws 16 installed with windows 8 on his machine. I have set his jaws verbosity at the beginner level. Typing echo to word and and screen echo to highlighted. Now suppose, he would like to create the table in his word document. So he first Press Alt-A to pull down the Table menu. Now, in this menu, selected the table option under insert submenu. Now, in the insert table dialog box, specified the number of columns and rows and pressed enter on ok button. here focus directly goes inside the table menu but jaws does not announces the focus information. Here for example, it should announce like Uniform table 1 column 1 row 1 of 2 table 1. Same case happens when we select any table elements under table menu to insert or delete the columns or rows and after pressing enter, jaws should announce the focus information as uniform table column 1 row 1 table 1. Rather it announces something else as section 1 has 1 page header, edit So to announce each time I am changing my focus in table as above, after I select or insert or delete any rows, it should announce like Uniform table, column 2 of 4 row 1 of 2 and so on. Kindly suggest the way out. Hope I am able to make you understand my concern. If not clear, kindly get back. -- Regards, Mukesh jain Email: mukesh.jai...@gmail.com mukeshheerachandj...@ntpc.co.in Skype: mukeshjain211 Mob: 09977165123 "Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. who are the vendors? what would be the cost for installing a domestic system producing between 8 to 10 kilo watts? - Original Message - From: "harish" To: "Saaqib Mahmuud" ; "AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issuesconcerningthe disabled." Sent: Saturday, January 09, 2016 11:04 PM Subject: Re: [AI] A Few Queries: Please Answer If You Have TheRelevantInformation Hi Interestingly, I have just commissioned a 60 Kilo watt solar power plant at my office. This is the largest solar power generation at our office. Our power requirements are are far greater than our generation. Which means that all the power generated by solar is consumed. The additional power requirement is taken from the regular state provided power grid. The whole process is automated and straightforward. It synchronises with it all extremely well. We run very high end and highly critical servers. It will continue to give steady power for at least 25 years. It should do good for another 10 more years. There is almost zero maintainence cost and only cleaning of the solar panel with water to clean the dust accumulating over it in about 2 weeks. This would be just about 30 minutes work in 2 weeks. Nothing more. The initial cost is high but it would break even in about 7 years at the present electricity charge. If it rises, then the pay back will be still earlier. Thereafter your power is absolutely free. When we can be using in a highly sensitive place, you can safely run any electronic or electrical device. We are having 200 panels each producing 300 watts of power. Interesting, in states like Karnataka, you can sell your extra power to the state grid and earn revenue. In summary, if your production is less than consumption, the difference can be drawn from the grid. If your generation is more than your consumption, you can earn revenue by selling the power to the grid. I don't see any problem for a blind person to clean the panels which is placed on the terrace of your house. Any interesting part is the whole process is modular. You can progressively keep increasing your generation as and when you can afford it. they will all work in a cohesive way. You can get a daily report on a browser. I have yet to check on the accessibility of the standard report. There are many Indian vendors from whom you can by the system. I had taken lead in having this system and was involved in every stage of the project. I suppose this would clear any queries. You can write to me directly if some got missed. First of all focus on the file you want to rename. Without opening the file, press the Application key- then up arrow a couple of times and you will hear "Rename". Press enter and , press the back space button to remove the current file name. Now type the new name and press enter. That's all there is to it. The same procedure can be adopted for Music files etc. - Original Message - From: "Subramani L" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2007 6:16 PM Subject: [AI] How to rename a file in MSW > Folks: > > Sometimes, in my work, I have to re-name a file in MS Word. Re: [AI] norton
Only yesterday, my vendor installed QUICK HEAL and since then, JAWS is behaving oddly. After booting, JAWS should start talking but it only says JAWS is ready and then, there is total silence. I have to try all sort of things like pressing insert plus J, control plus alt J or press Windows key M then press J on the Desk top and then press enter. After all this struggle, JAWS may come on. Can anyone advise is to what is wrong and how to rectify the problem? Outlook Express is also affected. >From the Message list to go to the various folders, I press tab and then the hot key. Jaws takes a long time to announce that I have landed on the particular folder . Another problem I am facing somewhat from before is that my dial up connection is getting disconnected time and time again which is very frustrating. My technical knowledge is limited so someone please help. [AI] New Software
http://www.robotiker.com/ ), Software is being developed to allow vision impaired people to read information on the digital display screens of electronic household products and at supermarket checkouts, a Spanish company has announced. The DISPLAYER will allow vision impaired users to read everyday information displays including dynamic displays, such as those on microwaves, digital clocks, boilers and those found at public transport stations and supermarket checkouts. The device would ultimately take the form of software or an application that could be installed on a smartphone or personal digital assistant (PDA) with a built-in camera. To read something on a display, users would hold the mobile device near it, capture an image of it and the system would interpret and read the content aloud using speech output technology. "To help them capture the image of the display," said Igone Idígoras Leibar, Principal Researcher at Robotiker-Tecnalia ( http://www.robotiker.com/ ), the Spanish company behind the technology. "It orientates the user with [speech output], for example, it would say 'on the image there is no display' or 'move the camera to the right so that the display appears,'". User testing with vision impaired people is due to start shortly. "Our idea is that the end users participate [in the development], not only at the end of the project but from the initial stages that we are now at," Leibar said. Tests have begun to ensure the device is usable in various lighting conditions, carried out by over 80 people using 500 appliances in their homes using different types of digital camera. Last October the DISPLAYER project won the top award of 240,000 Euros in a competition run by Spain's national blindness organisation ONCE to recognise technology research projects helping vision- impaired people. ONCE has undertaken to test and evaluate the final prototype, due to be ready in 2008. To unsubscribe send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the subject unsubscribe.
