If you modify/save the spreadsheet datasource and disconnect/reconnect the datasource in the beamer in Writer ... data are refreshed in the beamer and for the mailing. It's an acceptable behaviour (even if refeshing data with the refresh button will be better than connect/disconnect). BUT if you use the mailmerge wizard ( and even if you cancel on step 6 ou 7) the ONLY way to refresh data after a new spreadsheet data change is to restart OpenOffice ( without forgetting to also stop the quick launch in systray ). (disconnect/reconnect datasource, changing datasource, changing name of datasource nothing else ok, the only way is to kill all soffice process) It's seems like mailmerge wizard/process will stuck/lock cached spreadsheet data in memory... tested on Win XP - OOo 2.0.4 fr.. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When we designed the feature several years ago we intentionally made the default path not persistent. I doubt that having a switch for making it persistent is so important that it justifies the effort to implement it and the additional UI clutter it produces. Most applications I tested (I haven't that much at my hands) do it as we do. I found one exception (MultiEdit) but this is a strange thing in itself. :-) So my current take on that is: won't fix. I have had the opposite experience. Most apps are persistent. MS Word/Excel are persistent. I am trying to replace MS office with OO (I know they are totally diffent animals, which is great!!), but having a consistant starting point in a network environment is definately worth the effort. I invite our UI experts to add some comments here. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is one stickler that will not help us migrate to OO from M$ office. This should be a high priority. Standard users will not think ahead when planning a spreadsheet. Therefore, this function will be required on a steady basis. I have many spreadsheets that I would like to port over and modify. I am currently modifying in M$. We have some users making complex document with images ... and often very large image ( 5megaPixel camera !!!). They reduce image size in OOo but image weight is always the same making very heavy document. They don't know how to use Gimp, or something like that, to optimise images ... so a compress/optimize option will be really a good thing ( to reduce the image to the size used in the document instead of the original size )... It will be less painful for them to forgot this damned M...ft which has this magic button. IMHO VCL should provide us with a callback that dragging the window has come to an end. I think we should consider fixing this in 2.x time frame; it can be a PITA on systems where the profile is located on a slow disk. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is a requirement that can create some problems as we must change the path settings for templates then. So possibly this is nothing for a minor version, but let's see. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 71910] default path
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=71910 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 6 09:29:31 -0800 2006 --- There isn't a setting. I invite our UI experts to add some comments here. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 72330] Have to specify which oo c omponent file should open in every time
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72330 Issue #|72330 Summary|Have to specify which oo component file should open in | every time Component|Spreadsheet Version|OOo 2.0.4 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|Linux Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|open-import Assigned to|spreadsheet Reported by|stuartprescott --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 6 09:15:14 -0800 2006 --- I have a series of data files generated by other software. They variously have .txt, .dat and .csv extensions. Within the oocalc user interface, I have to specify, *every time* that I want to open the .dat and .txt file in oocalc and not in oowriter. This is a pain, especially when there are a lot of files to import and process. In fact, this makes OOo almost unusable for me. To add insult to injury, the user interface for selecting that the file should be opened in calc is quite bad from a usability perspective. Selecting an item from a very long dropdown list is probably the least user-friendly way of doing this. Perhap you can create a new menu item "Open a file in this component"? Or a checkbox on the Open dialogue box saying "Open the file in the same component"? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
