I send you necessary docs to repeate the bug :
- text_to_merge : the text to merge, with fields to be read in the database
file,
- data_to_merge : the database file,
- merged_pdf.pdf : the resulting doc after merging.

Step to got PDF file :
- Open ODT text,
- Open ODB databse, to be sure that text document is able to read is data from
it,
- then with text doc, choose Printing, answer Yes to merge doc, the choose
print TO A FILE, option To A SIMPLE FILE, and to PDF format.

As you can see, text doc has 2 rows by page, and the database has 4 rows in this
example.
So, PDF document should have 2 pages, with 2 records on each.
The problem is that, when merging, each merged page is followed by a
unsollicited blank page.
So, you can see final PDF document has not 2 pages, but in fact 3.

If you put 1000 records in the database, the PDF document will have 500 merged
pages + 499 blanks pages (strangely, the last page is NEVER blank).

Anyway, thank you for you care, and spending time for community !

Dear developers,
please change OS to All. And one more question: is it an ENHANCEMENT, but not
a DEFECT?

Great to hear it's been fixed. It would be even greater to know how it had been
fixed. Is it by the availability macros. In which case it needs signposting and
explaining? A little guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I've upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 and still get the a.m. error message. So far your
suggestions don't work. The last one by OB sounds learned but is chinese to non-

I have a document here, which sadly I cannot share, with loads of changes in it.
With a11y enabled in accept/reject changes OOo crash when the dialog appears.

The patch to fix is attached for the following backtrace shown:

Such an old problem and it's of enhancement type yet :(
But this ability is really important. Several colleagues of mine complain about
this problem. Usually they need to copy separated cells from one row to paste
them to another as one block, not separated.
BTW, there is a grammatical error in Summary of this issue.

When the size odt file is too big (about 700 pages), the converting to docbook
can't be done. It may be the xslt filter's problem or the odt2docbook xslt
file's bug.

The createRTFScanner problem is probably caused by parallel build again:

-rw-r--r-- 1 oo users 173 Jan 19 01:03 RTFScanner.cxx

Checking this file from the cvs again (YES, this file was changed directly in
the build source...) makes it
work again.

Let me see if I get this straight.
With this feature, everyone can just place a text label in a chart and
add whadever in it like in a cell in the spreadsheet???

Also all sorts of statistical formulaes from the graph itself?? On this way, I
can take the graph and do the formulaes on the graphs data series(when multiple
graphs with multiple data series)?

-This would be awesome!-

When formatting a cell as : DD/MM/
if I enter the date 04/01/2007 the system change the text to : 01/04/2007

if I enter the date 01/04/2007 the system change it to : 04/01/2007

It's seem to be general with all date less than 13.

Markellse, why do you think this issue has been fixed? I have seen no
indication that there has been any fix on this six-year-old issue. You are
right that sometimes things are fixed and we don't know about it, because the
issues aren't marked that way until much later. And often things are fixed or
enhanced and not even mentioned in the release notes.

For example, when 2.3.0 came out, OO *finally* had the ability to use a page
size greater than 48 or whatever the max used to be. But I ran across it
completely by accident- this major new ability was not mentioned anywhere.

In any case, I have 2.3.1 installed and no, it is not fixed. When I export to a
jpeg (or other raster format), I am not asked what resolution I want, it doesn't
tell me how big the raster file will be (in pixels), the export resolution is
mysteriously based on page size, and the maximum rasterized output resolution
was 2250x2048. Nothing has changed.

In Tools - Options - Witer - Mail Merge specify name, e-mail address, server
name and click Test settings. You get error message like on attached
screenshot.
This happens with m242 on WinXP.
Versions m241, 2.3.1, 2.1 work fine.

Description is based on the document of Notes2 build 2537 edgy-jdk.

Current behavior: The information of author and time/date of the note's creation
is shown in the Note Window. Every information (name, time/date) is displayed in
a separate text line.

  Example: | John O. Public|
   | 2008-01-19 15:03 |
   +---+

If the author name is very long, an unwanted line break occurs which makes use
of the second line, which is reserved for the date/time. The date/time
information is not shown any more.

  Example: | Bigbrotherjohn|
   | Smalltown |
   +---+

Expected behavior (today): Please refer to the wiki page
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Notes2_NotePropertyData

[sw-issues] [Issue 83947] Fill-in field content not imported when opening a Word 2000 document

For me, the field doesn't display exactly the same in Word as in Writer.

I have attached some screenshots to illustrate this. By the way: please ignore
the first screenshot attachment, I used the wrong mimetype for that one.

I downloaded my first attachment (Fill-in OOo import issue.doc) to create the
screen shots. They were taken without changing anything to this document. This
document has got a Fill-in field with:
- Default Value as default value
- Testvalue as value actually filled in by me via the appropriate dialog box.

In the screenshot of Ms Word you can see that Word displays the value I had
entered the previous I edited this document: Testvalue.
In the two other screenshots you can see that Writer instead always displays de
default value Default Value and never the value that was entered the previous
time the document was edited.

So my point is not that the dialog box isn't working. It's true, this works
exactly like in Word.

My point is if a value was entered into the dialog box, Word saves this value
with the fill-in field. The NEXT time you open the document, this saved value is
redisplayed in Word, but not in Writer.

Writer seems to completely ignore such a saved value.

To make things more complicated:
- The test document has been generated by Word 2000.
- When I open this in Writer, the saved value of the fill-in field is ignored
- If I put a new value in the fill-in field via Writer, and save the document
again as an MsWord document, both Word and Writer will display the saved value
for the fill-in field the next time the document is opened.
= So apparently, it's only with documents NEVER edited with Writer that this
problem appears. Once Writer had a go at it (even if the document is still saved
as Word) the problem disappears.

This info could serve as a workaround for some people. For me though, that's not
a solution, because I have literally hundreds of Word documents with fill-in
fields. I don't know the values I should enter anymore, as they are hidden as by
Writer. It would be very cumbersome to manually convert all these files.

@vagula: Ain, we could add yet another collation tailoring to i18npool to
override the default in ICU. However, since ICU per default uses the collation
definitions of the CLDR database, to get this corrected once for all
applications using ICU or the CLDR database I strongly suggest you push the
change into CLDR using the survey tool, please see
http://unicode.org/cldr/survey_tool.html

By the time OOo3.0 will be released we expect ICU 4.0 to be released too and
have upgraded to that, so if the change gets into CLDR early chances are that
ICU 4.0 will have the change and we don't need to tailor collation.

Thanks
  Eike

(Sorry, it's pretty tricky but it triggers a crash!)

- Start WriterWeb
- Insert a note
- Ctrl+F3 to call the AutoText dialog (This is not possible in a Writer doc
because the function is disabled there)
- choose the Dummy Text
- Insert
- Crash

Open the formula editor, write a formula with several lines (I'm attaching an
example you can test with), and scroll up and down.

You'll see that the scrollbars aren't properly repainted, so they appear as
garbage over the input box.

@cmanders : if you shows non printed characters, you will see that there is
only three TAB in front of the word driver instead of four for other words.
Perhaps that is the cause of the problem because it seems you did not define
same values for TAB intervals on your PC and on your MAC. Indeed personalised
TAB stops are not visible on horizontal rule.
Please verify this points.

Under Linux Mint 4.0 and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, the default line spacing for
normal documents is far too big.

Bug reported and confirmed on Launchpad:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/126784

Apparently it doesn't concern Fedora.

I observed this bug on OOo 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 snapshot 680_m2.
On Windows, No problem, the line spacing is ok.

The same document opened under Linux shows a far too big line spacing (about
140%), so the whole document looses its Layout. It is very problematic since OOo
becomes really unusable.
I have to use the bugfree windows version on a Virtual Machine since there is no
fix!

This bug shows up on all 4 machines in my Family, all PCs under Ubuntu or Mint.
The bug also existed on Ubuntu Feisty 7.04

This bug is also mentionned here:
http://www.linuxjournal.com/node/1000178

And there is a solution, too - namely install the msttcorefonts package.
Why does the line spacing grows when msttcorefonts is not installed?
I hated OOo for that bug many years, without finding any clue for how to solve
the problem - until today.

Ok, I've added simple example. Now place your cursor inside 2nd footnote and try
to search word First which is, as you see, in the 1st footnote. When search
reach end of document, it ask if you want to search from begining, you choose
Yes, but it won't find word First.

Ok, i open any file in OOWriter, or just create new.
Write three words, for example first second third, let the second wort be
italic.
Now mark all these three words and make new autocorrection rule (name it for
example fst to auto change for first second third). Click OK, and try - it
means to work but...
Open one more time autocorrection rules and look what happend with your new rule
- sometimes theres nothing in exchange for place, or you may onle see first
- whithout second third.

I can't reproduce this one. If the focus/cursor is inside the note, Ctrl-F3 has
no effect, the dialog does not open.

If focus is inside the document, the Autotext dialog starts, but when inserting
a text, it does not crash for me.

Please include a step by step instruction

@eric

Can you confirm that it has nothing to do with the additional Comment
procedure?

I experienced the following:

- if cursor is inside a note and you reject the change, it crashes
- if cursor is inside the document, everything is fine

[framework-issues] [Issue 83943] saving files

I am having this same problem. When I choose File Save (or Save As ...) from
the menu and save the document from Writer, it saves as a generic file. It does
this regardless of the file type I choose (I usually use .odt or .doc). When I
find the file in WIN EXPLORER, the icon doesn't show up as the OOo icon, and
there is no file extension. If I then try to open the file (from WIN EXPLORER,
OOo File menu, or from OOo or WIN dialog), WIN EXPLORER opens a dialog box
asking me to choose the program I want to use to open the file.

It has been doing this since Nov. 2007, about 1 month after I downloaded OOo.
Previously, the problem didn't exist.

It looks like impress does not export a default for the
draw:textarea-horizontal-align attribute.

It looks like the default is block, but that is not documented in the ODF
specification either...

Hi,

my current build of mws_ooh680 (to-be-m4):

checking for STL providing headers... using system STL
checking if hash_map will be in __gnu_cxx namespace... yes
checking if STL headers are visibility safe... yes
checking if gcc is -fvisibility-inlines-hidden safe with STL headers... no
configure: error: Your gcc is not -fvisibility-inlines-hidden safe. Try with
--with-stlport

Does this mean that we have to change the configure line so late in the 2.4
release cycle?
