With OOO320m12 on Ubuntu 10.04 the setting Show/Hide is stored properly in the
dialog but after restart of OOo even if "Show" is selected this does not affect
icons - no icons. If you go Hide,OK then Show,OK, then again icons are presented
in menus until the next restart of OOo.

Hello,

time passed and I am still convinced this could be a good feature.
The missing outbox is a non-issue if the user is aware of this or if it is
possible to send the mail automatically CC to his mailbox. The user will find
the outgoing mail in the inbox instead of the outbox, but filters can move the
mail to the right place.

Other relevant information: I save the file as "Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP 
(.xls)".

The attached spreadsheet experiences the problem.  To reproduce, edit one of the
long text cells to add a few words.  Save, close, and reopen to see that the
text has been truncated.

In a spreadsheet, I enter text in a cell.  The cell has been formatted to "Wrap
text automatically".  I've probably entered about 300 characters.  I press enter
and see all of the text I typed in the cell: so far, it looks correct.  Do the
same in a few other cells.  Save.  Close the spreadsheet.  Now reopen it.  The
text in the cell has been truncated.  I counted the number of characters in one
of the truncated cells, and it looks like it was chopped off at 255 characters.

This problem sounds similar to Issue 14338 (closed as "WorksForMe").

I use the version of OpenOffice that came with my SuSE Linux installation, which
is (from the About box):
   OpenOffice.org 3.1.1
   OOO310m21 (Build:9319)
   ... "created by Novell"...
   Build 3.1.1.4
(note: this version was not a choice in the "Found in version" selector above)

As a check, I downloaded the latest OpenOffice and found I could reproduce the
problem there as well.  The About box for that version says:
   OpenOffice.org 3.2.0
   OOO320m12 (Build:9483)
   ... "created by Sun Microsystems"...

I'm normally very happy with Open office. I found this issue a little
disappointing though. The first comment was made in Nov 2004 and the last was
made in April 2010. So this very useful feature has been ignored for more than
five years. I know that I should probably contribute with some programing or
hard coding instead of complaining. I also realize that is not an easy task, but
I think many people will be extremely happy once this feature is accomplished. I
normally have to produce a large number of charts with similar features in font,
font size, axe color and thickness, transparent background, etc. Changing those
things in every singel chart I produce is time consuming, and having the
hability to do it in some sort of "default chart properties" will be really 
helpful.

 So if my vote helps, here I go.

Under Ubuntu Studio 10.04(beta), OOO300m_77 and under Windows vista, OOO300m_77 
the Option to 'Hide/Show' icons in menus does not function. After changing it, 
closing the dialog, checking menu's - no change, open the dialog again and it's 
back to AUTOMATIC. (though for me I alwyas have icons under Linux, just the 
opposite it seems to fyva)

Using DEV320m_16 under both Ubuntu Studio 10.04(beta) and Vista this option 
works properly for me.

I think, that it is duplicate to issue 7316, which was closed with 'wontfix',
and to issue 103955.

With copying the row it is in the clipboard. When you then shift the cells
(=insert a row) the clipboard does not know about this operation. So the
original content is inserted.

You can solve your problem for example:
First insert a row, which will adapt the reference and then copy&paste the
content without "special".
or
Use a name instead of the direct reference.

The behavior of conditional formatting is a different problem. It is already
tracked in issue 97254.

You can solve your problem with conditional formatting too, when you use a name
instead of the direct absolute reference, because names are adapted, when the
referenced cell moves.

This was fiund while doing Sanity Check testcases for
OOo_OOO320m16_Win_x86_install_ca.exe.
Open this MS Word doc in Writer:

In page 2, there is a numbered list consisting of 3 points.
In Writer, the numbered list is rendered incorrectly: 1st point is OK, 2nd point

This extends to Conditional Formatting.

When introducing columns by using 'Insert Columns' OR 'Insert Special ( expand 
Right )' - References contained in the Conditional Formatting ( whether Static 
or Dynamic ) are correctly addressed afterwards.

After the test in OOO320m16 I have added a new version of my first attachment.
There is a form and a query. The query will work when the filtered value is the
value you have putted in. The query will return "not available" when the
filtered value isn't put in. At the same time the data has been saved in the
background.
Seems that the gui will refresh data and calls HSQLDB for all the rows which are
in the query - but the last input could not be a result and is not available
from the database. There wasn't any refresh in earlier versions of OOo-Base at
this time.
The form shows the problem with insertRow() - and a new problem for a new issue:
Not text in the textfields.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have an MS Word document that contains redlining (use track changes command 
from Word's menus).
2. Create a new Odt document (or use an existing).
3. Go to menu Insert->Section... Select checkbox Link and point File Name label 
to the doc from item 1. Click on "Insert".
You can observe that redlinings turned into simple text.

It is expected that redlinings will be preserved when appending a section as 
Writer support importing of redlines from MS Word documents.

New Calc document, enter the value 1 in A1,B1,A2,B2. Select A2:B2, press the
"bold" button. Save the file, look at content.xml.

Only the first row has a repeated cell, row 2 is written as separate cells
although the cells are equal. The file is still valid and correct, but the
content.xml stream is slightly larger than it has to be. This worked in 3.0.1.

Observation 1: "Dark Room" is not a dark theme, not by our Standards.
Color.IsDark() returns "TRUE" for a luminance of 38 (of 255) or less. "Dark
Rooms" dark color is 0x4c4039, which is dark, but has a higher luminance
obviously. So it is technically correct, that HighContrast autodetection returns
"no high contrast".

-> that means that the normal icon set is used without user intervention is
correct. As sts mentioned, these icons are not designed for a dark background.
Which you can see everywhere, no only in math's picker.

Observation 2: Switching the icon theme in "Tools->Options->View" indeed is not
working immediately in math's formula elements picker, the new set is only used
after it is closed an opened again.

My conclusion is, that this is not an accessibility issue (removing keyword).
And short of a redesign of the Galaxy icon set, the only bug left here is that
the window in question does not react to changing the icon theme on the fly like
all other toolbars do.

Here's how I can reproduce the issue.

To export to PDF in headless mode:
$ /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice -headless 
"-accept=socket,port=8100;urp;" &
$ /opt/openoffice.org3/program/python DocumentConverter.py tuoguan.doc 
tuoguan.pdf

To export to PDF in normal mode: same as above without the -headless switch.

I have a few Chinese fonts installed on my system (Ubuntu Linux 10.04) like
ttf-wqy-microhei that appear in the "normal" PDF but not in the headless one.

Calc has the very useful feature of highlighting referenced cells and associated
formula content in color when editing a formula.

However, I have found that the color highlighting only works if the cells are
un-named. With named cells, the highlighting doesn't work.
It seems to be a pretty strange decision to disable such a great feature just
because cell naming is used. Excel highlights cells whether or not names are 
used.

This still causes a crash, repeatedly. It definitely should -not- be closed. I
turned off the Mac Spell Checker as suggested, and it still crashes. (Even had
simply turning off this setting solved the problem, that's not exactly a "fix"

I cannot reproduce what you describe.

When typing http://www.thisisatest.com and after AutoCorrection to hyperlink,
the domain name is not spell-checked.
Pressing F7 doesn't bring any error which should be the case if had typed
"thisisatest"

Plus, what you mean is not "hyperlink" but "URL".

Using klbClipBreaking instead of hyphen or whole-letter breaking fixes the 
problem as it does not require 
detailed knowledge of the script inside the generic font. Graphite still 
returns the full-word line break 
suggestion but using the trick from issue 92342 also solves this. The 
breakiterator and hyphenator that 
Writer/EditEngine use then do the rest to get proper hyphenation positions.
@nemeth: please check your scenarios using my patch above, issue 111277 is 
solved by it too

If a crash occurs, it often happens that OOO can't recover the file. The file is
damaged: zip is corrupted and/or content.xml size is 0.
Why OOo don't work on a copy? 
The steps would be:
- user open a ODF document
- OOo rename .od* in .tmp and copy .tmp in .od*
- if user save the document
- OOo delete .tmp, rename .*od* in .tmp and copy .tmp in .od*
- if user close the document
- OOo delete .tmp
This could prevent the problem (see URL above). If a system error occurs, power
ends or crash OOo and corrupt the .od*, user can recover the previous version to
rename .tmp in .od*.
This could improve security cause many users forgot to check "Always create
backup copy" option.

At the moment internet addresses are either automatically converted into
hyperlinks, which aren't spell checked, or left as they were input, dependent on
the autocorrect options, but then they _are_ spellchecked, and so far I haven't
found a way to turn that off automatically. Of course, urls are misspelt in all
languages.
At the moment the only workaround that I know of is to define a character style
with language set to None and apply that to all internet addresses, but binding
that style to a key is, as I found as a volunteer at the OOo community forums, a
tough hurdle for many people.
Although is is really a feature or enhancement request, I marked this as a
defect because the program can already detect an internet address and doesn't
spell check it on conversion to a hyperlink, so why not turn off spell check if
the user doesn't want it converted to a hyperlink? - for instance in text that
will be printed, so that a hyperlink wouldn't be very useful anyway).

How to reproduce: 

Start with two paragraphs of text in a document, give the first one a heading
style. 
Place cursor in front of second paragraph, press backspace. The second paragraph
is now appended to the first and assumes its style. Press CTRL+Z, the document
is now as before. So far so good.

Now do this with "track changes" enabled. 
In this case, undo restores the second paragraph to its location, but its
original style is not restored.
