I have determined that OOo 2.2 is the most likely culpret by the process of
elemination. I can reproduce it by leaving OOo running, not by leaving other
apps that I often use- acroread, thunderbird, firefox, limewire, gtkpod, gaim-
open.
It happens after an unspecified period of time, but it happens often. The system
freezes. The keyboard and mouse do not respond in any way. The caps lock light
blinks on some occurances, but sometimes it does not. There is nothing in
/var/crash or /var/log/messages. The only way to get the system running again is
to hold the power button down for ~4 seconds.
I have re-installed the entire OS twice trying to remedy the situation.
OS: Ubuntu Feisty
CPU: AMD64 2.0GhZ
RAM: 2GB
Laptop model: HP dv6105us
I am at a loss. There is little information to share, I hope that what I gave
you is helpful. I can be typing, or OOo can just be running in the background.
It happened once during loading while the OOo splash screen was loading.
