[arr] ARR - "Rajini of Tamil Music Industry"
1st of all I need to mention abt THE RISING. Many say that they were disappointed the the tracks of THE RISING. I too felt the same initially. But on repeated hearing, its growing. This is not new with ARR albums. Infact ARR late growing tracks becomes more successful then the catchy songs on 1st hearing. Some have already stated how the songs are growing on them even though they had initial disapointments. But i am afraid with the fact that, "will such late growing tendency will be helpful in the current dull music market?" But, It looks this the rite time for ARR to hit back in Tamil. He is currently involved in few commercial film in Tamil, unlike hindi where he has a long line of off-beat movies. Some recent articles said that tamil music industry is in a bad shape rite now. Only Chandramukhi managed to sell few lakh copies and that too because of Rajini's star value and not because of Vidyasagar. As, ARR is the "Rajini of Tamil Music", I feel he could bring back the lost glory of Tamil music industry. I hope all ARR fans r determined to buy the original stuffs and bring profit to the rights holder. Last year was a black mark for ARR as there were no takers initially for AE and NEW. But later it proved to be profitable for the rights holder. Ofcourse, the audio rights price is not as high as it used to be in 1999-2000. I feel BABA was the highest as its audio rts were sold for 2C. It is sad to hear that, even if the songs are hit and popular amongest the public, the originals just remains in the store rack. I feel this should not happen to the up coming ARR albums. Wow, I just heard the audio trailer yesterday and was suprised to view the video trailer courtersy of kartik today. Man It was a blow to the soul, I mean after all those poor rustic ghana melody which prevailed the tamil music industry, aah haaa not anymore, since rahman has decided to comeback after a long time. The songs are nicely composed within the contrains of the movie. Of course SJS has created much hype with the cinematography. This ablum will surely prove Rahman's existance down south. Vijay, I know lot of friends who have turned into ARR fans after Thiruda Thiruda, Gentlemen. Kadhalan etc.. This 'section of fans' expect him to churn music similar to those blockbusters all the time. When they dont get similar output they tend to trash the album. ARR's recent hindi movies were period, patriotic or classical (experimental) in nature.. Kisna, Bose, Rising and Swades. And there is more to come.(like Akbar & Jodha).. I feel that ARR should try to release albums that attempts to satisfy both sections of his fans. It is a good thing Ah Aah is expected to release around the same time. From the trailer, one gets a feel that it is going to keep the 'other section' quite happy till they get bored of the songs. I quite liked the bit where ARR goes 'Ah..AAh.. Ah.. AAh'.. I may be wrong but I certainly feel a movie like The Rising does not need such intense promotion as compared to a film like Bunty Aur Babli. Bunty Aur Babli another pure commercial film, having to fight for its place against many others. I think The Rising speaks for itself. In one sentence - The Rising is a monumental effort by ARR. So authentic and creative. Now I can understand people getting dissappointed initially. Music of such brilliance is not heard everyday and the ears that are so used to the Bunties, Bublies and Bahanays will take time to comprehend the beauty and sheer genius of Rising. I was transported to another era while listening to the tracks which have a rustic beauty in them. The Rising is undoubtedly the most period (if I may) of all of ARR's period soundtracks. One of the best vocal intros ever from ARR in Mangal Mangal. A delightful holi song. I don't know why people are cribbing about the Daud beats which comes only for a few seconds. Rasiya is absolutely mesmerizing. Love the humming and the part "Bigdi banat banat ban gayi...". Absolutely hanuting melody and chords in that section. As for Al Maddath Maula, I think ARR has outdone himself this time. Excellent vocals. You can close your eyes and feel close to the Creator in this one. And Takey Takey is the most innovative creation from ARR in a long time. Brilliant song with lots of new sounds. Sukhwinder's vocal loop is great. Listen to the "Cockadoodledoo" at 1:48!! I have no words to express my gratitude to ARR for this soulful soundtrack. Hats off to Javed Akhtar too for some outstanding lyrics. God bless you ARR... The other day I saw the audio review of The Rising by Joginder Tuteja of India FM. Apparently, the reviewer was invited for the audio launch of The Rising and at this launch, visual clips of the songs were being played, based on which the review was done!!! Can you beat it? I mean.when do you review an audio album? After listening to the songs on a good music system for at least a couple of times, analyse the nuances of all the songs, lyrics etc. And instead of doing thishere we have a reviewer who has already passed his verdict by listening/watching the audio visual clips at the audio launch!! Ridiculous it sounds to me!! All along I thought only Taran Adarsh was capable of ludicrous analysis but looks like his brethren at India FM are all capable of doing the same!! While I do not argue with the right of the reviewer to criticize the album...still to review and criticize the album just by a single listen and that too on the big screen at the audio launch is a bit too much for me to digest!! Far Pavilions is the love story between an Indian princess and a British Officer set in British Raj.
