I will be the first person to celebrate if ARR gets a BharataRatna..but..
Looks like you dont know what is a Bharata Ratna.. and what value it really 
carries.
If you are not even educated enough about it, I wonder if you can ever attempt 
a convincing appeal.
More than anything, if ARR gets it now, he will end up being in more controversy
than any acclaim..
You see the music giants whos been in there..whether you are their fans or not..
Kishore Kumar, SPBalasubramanyam, RDBurman, and then.. many more..who
didnt get it. Think how  much pressure that will be for ARR to handle.
You can appeal but have a bigger idea rather than thinking that this group 
represents
the whole india.

I am one of the biggest fans of ARR..
but Bharata Ratna ?. He is not there yet.
I am sure he would agree.

Lata Mangeshkar, Bismillah Khan, Ravi Shankar, and M.S.Subbulakshmi
 
are the only Bharata Ratnas from the music field. 

Of course there are a lot of non-sensical political awardees..

But I think it's way too early for ARR.

  Well, what sort of support we are talking about here for 'Bharat Ratna'. I 
heard one of the FM channels mention on 6th Jan that ARR is a possible 
candidate for Bharat Ratna but it isnt like the CNN - IBN awards (people's 
poll) isnt it? People petitioning right now are: Advani for 'Atal Bihari 
Vajpayee'; Communist for 'Jyothi Basu' and latest Mayavathi for 'Kanshi Ram'.. 
and I wonder if that sort of support would even work!
   
  As mentioned in this thread earlier, I too feel that Bharat Ratna is not like 
an Oscar and I think time will come for ARR!!
   
  I read somewhere that the last Bharat Ratna was given 7 years ago as they did 
not find a suitable canditate.
   
  Its one thing to be passionate about ARR but its a different thing to be too 
emotional or over reactive.

Guys, Let admiration not over-ride sensibilities.It is the highest award given 
to only veterans. There were many great composers before Rahman era who were 
not given that award. As far as i can remember, two musicians who received that 
award are Lata Mangeshkar and Pt.Ravi Shankar. Now to reach such stature, 
Rahman needs lot of time and more illustrious work.

ARR is not a warrior, he is quite certainly a God. He is a simple man.
But history has proved that many simple man have done great deeds. Not for 
themselves, but for the benefit of others...
ARR, likewise, has been amongst the 1st to come forward in support of various 
causes... 
'Taj Anthem' in more than 8 languages
'Tsunami' song... listen to it & u can feel the pain & suffering..
'Banyan Theme' giving hope to those who have lost it..
and above all

Vande Mataram... many generations will come & go... but this album with stay 
FOREVER.

u don't have to sacrifice ur life, and prove that u deserve a Bharat Ratna.

I believe every soul that can bring peace to one's heart... deserves 
recognition... be that in any form.

ARR is not the GOD of MUSIC... MUSIC is a GOD for ARR.
