Asset Management 7.1 to 7.6.04
All, Is there a way to migrate over Asset Contract information for software licenses into the Contract Management of 7.6.04? For example, in the new system, there are certificates that need to be created but this doesn't exist in 7.1. Has anyone done this during an upgrade or migration? Thanks... There is no support way with DDMT. Review the required fields and any hidden fields to see if an export/import will work. All other forms for SAM will need to be created. -Original Message- From: Chowdhury, Tauf tauf.chowdh...@frx.com To: arslist arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Mon, Feb 28, 2011 10:18 am Subject: Re: Asset Management 7.1 to 7.6.04 ** Sorry, Asset Management 7.0.3 Tauf Chowdhury | Forest Laboratories, Inc. Asset Management 7.1
Hello Fellow Listers, The organization here at Purdue University is looking at implementation of Asset 7.1 into our current environment (AR 7.1 Patch 007 and ITSM 7.1). Has anyone installed and configured Asset 7.1? What are the base requirements for configuration? What has to be done at the CMDB level? What was the overall experience? How long to implementation? Any additional information provided would be greatly appreciated. Re: Asset Management 7.1
Chad, To your questions regarding requirements for configuration, I'll differ to the BMC manuals on the topic. At the CMDB level, there are a bunch of things to consider. Do you have any discovery tools? If so, are you planning on using them to populate the CMDB? If not, how are you going to handle bulk loading Asset's/CI's? Our implementation is ongoing and it broken up into phases. The first phase is handling Client Assets (both discoverable and non-discoverable), and Software License Management. I will say that the Software License Management is a pain point and has many caveats and without knowing your environment completely, I cannot say which apply to you. There are also many things to consider outside of the Asset Management MODULE itself while still being required by the process such as changes/additions to Incident/Change templates that may be needed. Re: Asset Management 7.1
More importantly there is no AM 7.1. You need to determine the following: 1. What version of ARS are you using, if it is 7.1 then you will install CMDB 2.1 2. Since the normal ITSM application install recommends that you install CMDB prior to installing your first ITSM application if this was not done you may not be able to install CMDB. 3. Determine which version of ITSM applications you are presently using, check SHARE:Applicationproperties and then install the same version of AM -Original Message- From: Chowdhury, Tauf tauf.chowdh...@frx.com To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Tue, Jan 26, 2010 10:07 am Subject: Re: Asset Management 7.1 ** Chad, To your questions regarding requirements for configuration, I’ll differ to the BMC manuals on the topic. Tauf, No Discovery Tools, they are thinking of exporting a flat file from another source and then AIE to import this data. The software license management is already done by a Microsoft Product. The big talk around here is that 7.0.03 provides limited functionality versus 7.5.00, which is directing a look into ITSM 7.5. Have you heard of what the differences are? Re: Asset Management 7.1
You want to be looking at AM 7.6, part of ITSM 7.6, running on ARS 7.5. The 7.5 version of ITSM had a life span of about 7 months before it was superseded by 7.6. If you try to add AM 7.0.03 to an existing ITSM 7.0.03 installation that has been patched, there are issues with patch level in that you must reapply patches 004 through 007 after installing AM, and they WILL overwrite any customizations to apps like Service Desk. I think the ITSM 7.0.03 Patch 008 and 009 Release Notes spelled this out the best.
