[Ontbirds] Tommy Thompson Park: Canada Warbler
This afternoon at around 2:30 I had a Canada warbler, a northern parula, and several bay-breasted warblers (along with many of the more common warblers) in the wet woods just before Tommy Thompson Park. The birds were sheltering from the wind in the low bushes right in the middle of the wet wood. [Ontbirds] Warning--Leslie Spit
I birded the Wet Woods at the base of Leslie St. this afternoon and when I came out, I discovered my car had been broken into. The window was smashed and cash and a credit card stolen from my purse. I had hidden my purse under the front seat, but perhaps something was visible--something must have attracted the thief to my car. Be careful and don't keep valuables in your car when you park there. Cellan Jay The Wet Woods are at the base of Leslie St. in Toronto. ___ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization. [Ontbirds]Bronte Dickcissel
I observed the Dickcissel this evening at about 7:00 p.m. I heard the bird singing as soon as I started down the path from Dundas St. It was immediately visible in one of two rather large dead trees. I watched it for about ten minutes, then carried on along the path following the hydro poles. When I came back thirty minutes later, the bird was still there, singing away in the same tree. Directions from Toronto: Take the Gardner Expressway and continue on the QEW to Hwy 25 (Bronte Rd.) Go north to Dundas West and turn left (west). The small pull off area with the chain across the drive is on the south side of Dundas immediately WEST of Tremaine (NOT east as previously reported -- this confusion had me driving up and down the highway for awhile). [Ontbirds]Warblers - Downtown Toronto
Both yesterday morning and this morning (9:00 a.m.) I saw in a tree in my neighbour's yard: a Yellow-Throated Green, a Black-throated Blue, and a Pine warbler. Yesterday only, the crowd also included a Black-and-White warbler. Not too surprising -- except that I live right on College street in downtown Toronto! Cellan Jay Toronto
[Ontbirds]Great Egret at Tommy Thomson Park (Leslie spit)
Hello, I saw a Great Egret yesterday at about 5:00 p.m. at TTP (the Leslie Spit) in Toronto. It could be seen on the far shore from the road that leads down to the bird banding station. Cellan Jay Toronto
