I observed the Dickcissel this evening at about 7:00 p.m. I heard the bird singing as soon as I started down the path from Dundas St. It was immediately visible in one of two rather large dead trees. I watched it for about ten minutes, then carried on along the path following the hydro poles. When I came back thirty minutes later, the bird was still there, singing away in the same tree.
Directions from Toronto: Take the Gardner Expressway and continue on the QEW to Hwy 25 (Bronte Rd.) Go north to Dundas West and turn left (west). The small pull off area with the chain across the drive is on the south side of Dundas immediately WEST of Tremaine (NOT east as previously reported -- this confusion had me driving up and down the highway for awhile).
