Hi Richard,
I do have jaws 8 and need to install the latest updates. And I have
internet explorer 6 I believe. Thanks for your efforts when you have time.
I know you must be very busy, but I can tell that you care very much for
those of us on this list who are slowly progressing in our knowledge.

Re: [Blind-Computing] [Blind-Computing A Web Site]C Question

2007-07-01 Thread Ricque
Hi Linda,
I returned to the site, and after awhile, finally found a way into the
registration form.
Now, if I can do it again, I will document it, and pass it along.
Keep in mind, that this is with the latest version of Jaws 8, and Internet
Explorer 6, and results may vary from system to system.
I don't have a lot of time to spend on this at once, but can work with it a
little at a time.

Linda here. I recently learned of a web site called www.pandora.com which
allows you to create your own radio station. It is free. Actually, you can
create up to a hundred of them. I will tell you about this site, but my
question is, how do I use it with jaws? So far I have had to have help.

When you create a radio station you name an artist, and the site will put
that artist on, as well as other artists with the same type of style. You
have the option to say thumbs up on that song, or I don't like that song, or
play this song in a month because I'm tired of it. I would really like to
know if it is possible to navigate this site. Also, it is possible to let
friends hear your radio stations from their computers. After about five
minutes of initial playing the music will stop and ask you once for your
email address and password, which never have to be entered again if you are
accessing the site from your own computer. It is possible to access the
site from anywhere though. It is really quite amazing how they can match
the styles. Sometimes there is a mismatch, but not very often. I really
would like to learn if we can navigate this site.

Thanks to anyone who tries and responds.
Linda

Hi Berrie,
What have you installed recently?
If you can access the internet, just to be on the safe side,
itt wouldn't hurt to update your security software, and then disconnect from

Since you don't know exactly what it is, you shouldn't delete it just yet.

Re: [Blind-Computing] most of my programs will not start

2007-07-01 Thread Ricque
Hi Jacob,
There is a program called Juice, although I don't understand it's use.
There is also a podcatcher named Juice.
I checked out the site you referenced, and it looked more promotional, than
informational.
Interesting to say the least.

Hi

Can you browse the internet?

Did a search on google for Juice.exe, and found this page which might be
relevant:

http://www.file.net/process/juice.exe.html

I'll be honest and say that I've never heard of a thing called Juice.exe,
and if you didn't specifically install it, maybe you should uninstall/delete
it or something?

Dunno if this is relevant or helpful, but I've often been told that that
sort of crackling thing is related to some sort of stattic electricity
build-up, and doesn't that thing come with some sort of 'earth' connector or

I like this turtle beach audio advantage roadie sound card for it's chat
room effectiveness but all too often when just listening to a pod cast or
what ever the thing crackles some times almost drowning out what ever it is
I'm listening too. I'd appreciate any help with this matter at all, thanks

1. where did you put the lame file you downloaded?
2. have you listened to the help tutorials for the program?

Re: [Blind-Computing] A Speedfan Question

2007-07-01 Thread Ricque
Hi Steve,
I don't have it installed anymore, but I do recall that it is useable with
Jaws.
Somewhere I'm sure I had recommendations for CPU temps
which were in celsius, but can't even recall what they were.
My systems have variable fans on the CPU and case, so I really don't worry
about over-heating that much.

Hi David,
I was able to reproduce your problem on that website.
I didn't have to re-boot the machine, I just used the Jaws dump keystroke,
and closed the website.
After that I used Narrator to see what else was open, before re-loading
Jaws.
Useing the latest version of Jaws8, on WinXP home service pack 2.
I'll attempt the page again with a different version of Jaws,
but it will have to wait until morning, it's been a very long day!

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Problem on AVG download page

Hi list,

I don't think I've posted on this list before but feel you may be able to
help with this one.

I was looking for the download link for the free version of AVG antivirus.
I found the right page at the following site

www.free.grisoft.com
then into the Download page.

When cursoring around the area of the relevant links deciding which one to
enter on, Jaws suddenly crashed and the computer started its swirling or
whirring noise, whichever. This has now happened twice today in almost
exactly the same spot on the page. Had to press and hold in the off switch
to shut down. The computer rebooted ok so no permanent damage.

I'm using Windows XP, SP2 and the latest version of Jaws 8.0. If anyone
could cast some light on this I'd be grateful.

BTW, I've been using AVG for a few years now but was trying to locate the
place to help a mate of mine who wants to download it.

TIA

David

Could you remind me what the Jaws dump keystroke is.

Hi David,
I was able to reproduce your problem on that website.

TIA

David

Hi Richard,

Tested the web page again but this time with Jaws 7.1 and it seemed to work
fine. So, it looks like a glitch in 8.0.

Rick,
A blind friend told me that she clicked on the link "about us" and was able
to create a radio station herself. My problem now is that when I click on
that site it goes to the most recent station created and I have no idea how
to click on other links. I've tried but it isn't working.
