Re: [Blind-Computing] MSSE updating problem
Hi Al; Thank you for your response. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. The problem was the clock on my brothers computer was way the heck off and the time being off screwed up something with Internet certificates or something like that. I reset the time and everything is fine now.. Below is the solution to the problem i found on the Internet. This is a fairly un-common Windows Update error and hopefully this article will help you resolve the problems you are having. The 0x80072f8f error code typically occurs because of a time issue. What causes Error 0x80072f8f # The date / time on your computer is too different from the date / time of the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates used by the Windows Update site.. Resolution Suggestion One: # Check you have the correct time and date and time zone: 1. Double click the clock in the bottom right hand corner. 2. Check you have the correct time and date. 3. Click the Time Zone Tab. 4. Check you have the correct time zone. --- Resolution Suggestion Two: # Re-register these important files and check IE settings: 1. Click Start. 2. Choose Run. 3. In the Run box, type: regsvr32 Mssip32.dll 4. Click OK. 5. Repeat this time typing: regsvr32 Initpki.dll ...now 6. Open Internet Explorer 7. Select the Tools menu and then select Internet Options 8. Choose the Advance tab 9. Unselect 'check for server Take care. Maybe. Don't really deal with hardware support, but I've heard of motherboard batteries going bad, never had it personally though. Hi All. Apparently MSSE wanted me to run a scan. I think I forgot to leave my computer on overnight when it was scheduled to run a scan. I did and it is happy again. Thanks for your help. Becky, when you see that computer is unprotected message in the s ystem tray, do you click on it to see what it says? Go through the menu and make sure "real time protection is checked." MSE should alert you when your system is unprotected. marilyn - Original Message - From: "Becky B" To: Sent: Saturday, February 20, 2010 12:35 PM Subject: [Blind-Computing] MSSE : MSSE says that it updates automatically.
