Is the wiki really useful ? There weren't many updates there, were they ?

Moreover, the documentation is in a sorry state. There is :
- something in CVS, incomplete and not up to date
- something at http://www.gnu.org/software/gnubg/manual/ (gnu.org,
hence managed by the FSF folks, I suppose), apparently an older version of
the above
- something in the wiki, similar to parts of the CVS document (maybe
Christian Anthon pulled what was in the wiki when he rewrote the manual).

Shouldn't we do something like :
- import recent changes from the wiki into the CVS document and probably
close the wiki, at least as far as documentation is concerned

- have the pages at gnubg.org updated from CVS, say weekly or monthly
- overhaul the manual

Spammers have sadly automated wiki account creation as well. You may want
to just stick with a username and password and a note to mail someone if
you want access. :/

I cleaned up Wiki documentation last night of edits to spam (an issue
with allowing open edits). Some edits were made again this morning, so I
have temporarily put authentication on wiki for editing. If someone
wants the editing account/password to make changes let me know.

I'm thinking we should upgrade our Wiki (if we intend to keep it) to
something that as more sophisticated access control (No anonymous edits,
require account creation / login etc).

[Bug-gnubg] GNUBG Website online again

2013-02-07 Thread Michael Petch

Howdy all,

I spent the better part of the day going through all the files and
cleaning things up, removing redirects to 3rd party sites. The cleanup
also includes:

- Using PHP v5.3 rather than 4.5.x
- Nucleus Content Management upissued from 3.51 to latest 3.64
- Up-issued phpThumb to the latest version
- Cleaned up and upgraded the CMS plugins including print, imagemanager,
dino, and tinymce.

- Backed up the entire website, and CMS database.

One should probably clean their browser crash or use control-refresh in
their browsers to reload GNUBG pages from scratch to make sure you are
seeing the latest and greatest.

If anyone sees issues with the site please let me know ASAP, and I will
look into it.

Yes, of course you're right ;-). I was in a bit of a hurry today. Maybe
I'll write more about this and about gnubg.com and all the business

It's a EU guideline regarding data retention, concerning all EU
countries.

To be more precise perhaps: It's the protest campaign against that.

That appears to be a private site by someone who supports gnubg
