dateFormat problem? Can anyone who *is* seeing the bug please post

Yes,I know where his emails come from. However he makes many comments to
his employer and references to it, does not try all that hard to seperate
the two. Heck when he made insultive remarks about the EfNet CF community
on this list, he had experienced his stay(breifly as it might have been) via
work, he got on from a IP at macromedia.com. But I see now, as long as you
use a outside media you can then pick and choice when you represent your
company and when you just want to be a jerk. Good think I represent no one,
means I can be a childish person all the time.

Actually, yes. I'm well known for it! As it says in the bio at the

I came here for an argument.
No you didn't

OK, now I'll respond more seriously (and I haven't even had a coffee

Rob posted a code fragment under the banner of Another MX boo boo.
It's good that he posted the code but he didn't say what was wrong or
what result he got. I tested the code fragment and posted the result -
which seemed to be exactly what I would have expected the code to
produce. I asked Rob for more details.

That seems pretty fair to me.

As for the comment about the Subject line - something like Possible

tactful).

Here is the exact code for the link I sent you. Also it seems to be linked
to having (ddd) be the last thing in the format string. One of the
developers said a string like mm/dd (ddd) works. Though I have not
tried that yet.

CFSET str = dateformat(now(),mm/dd/yy)

CFSET code = 'lt;CFSET str = dateformat(now(),mm/dd/yy)gt;'

Properly Formatted Date without (ddd) maskBR

PRE
CFOUTPUT#code#/CFOUTPUT
/PRE

CFOUTPUT#str#/CFOUTPUTBR

BRnbsp;BR
Properly Formatted Date with (ddd) maskBR
CFSET code = 'lt;CFSET str = dateformat(now(),mm/dd/yy FONT
COLOR=RED(ddd)/FONT)gt;'
PRE
CFOUTPUT#code#/CFOUTPUT
/PRE
CFSET str = dateformat(now(),mm/dd/yy (ddd))BR

CFOUTPUT#str#/CFOUTPUTBR

That's pretty strange. I tried the exact same code and it worked just
fine (I'm running CFMX without the Updater). I tried setting my system
clock to different values and it ran just fine every time. The
timestamp certainly *looks* valid.

Is the rest of your file commented out above this?

Can someone who has the Updater installed try this code please? (Jesse,

Yes,I know where his emails come from. However he makes many comments to his employer

Just because Sean works at MM doesn't mean he can't speak _his_ mind.

All his emails come from his personal address, not a MM address. He's
able to say his own thoughts. He just happens to have access to lots of
inside CF information at his work.

Macromedia employee participation (was RE: not another mx boo boo)

2002-10-09 Thread Matt Liotta

IMHO, how people interact on public mailing lists is a reflection on
themselves and not their employers. I welcome and encourage Macromedia
employee participation with CF mailing lists and think they should be
individually responsible for their participation. Macromedia should only
be responsible for their employees in relation to their official duties.

It seems rather easy to separate official emails from Macromedia sent
via employees on these lists from their personal opinion. Sean has done
nothing but contribute to the CF community by participating on this list
and others. While I may disagree with him and his employer on occasion
that doesn't mean I don't appreciate his participation.

It is my wish that people on this list would spend less time getting
offended by emails sent with the best intentions and more time engaging
in technical debates.

RE: not another mx boo boo

2002-10-09 Thread Haggerty, Mike

Just a point about contacting someone's employer, someone on CF-Community
and I got into it a few months ago.

I told him I would post his boss' email address to the list if he didn't
lighten up. Lost a few friends over that one, and regret even suggesting
someone contact the person's boss.

While these lists are a public forum no one wants to have to watch over
their back when they are speaking their mind.

We are all professional adults and should be above having to squeal on each
other because someone's not playing nice.

I couldn't agree more. Stop the PC crud, and simply look at what's real
and informative about the email. Sure, if you want to play the
Customer is always right routine, you could slap the hands of several
of MM's employees on this list. But you know what, we're NOT always
right. And since we've all (well, most likely all) been on the cash
register side of the counter and experienced the crap that customers can
spew -- only to have to nod and say yes sir -- let's just remember, we
all have our opinions.

It's part of what makes this country great! I can stand toe-to-toe with
you and call you an a#*hole, and know that it's my right to do so.

If we're not smart enough to realize the difference between an
official comment and an unofficial one, then I believe we should
sell our 'puters and quit our current job(s). I'm certain we would have
no problem finding a top-flight position in either the food service or
janitorial industries.

LF sell our 'puters and quit our current job(s). I'm certain we would have
LF no problem finding a top-flight position in either the food service or
LF janitorial industries.

Not Another MX boo boo?

 No longer works in MX. looks like only certain characters work in date
 format.

I get:

date is 08/10/02 (Tue)

using this code:

cfoutput
cfset str = dateFormat(now(), dd/mm/yy (ddd))/
date is #str#
/cfoutput

Can you be a bit more precise about what No longer works about this
please?

(And perhaps use a less confrontational subject line? :)
