I called Holley Hooker today…I was surprised when the rep told me the ceramic headers can still show rust. He said the ceramic coating is very porous. Pretty much where ever the line worker felt like sticking a piece of paper - depending on their mood. Many ended up on the floor as it wasn't mandatory it stay with the vehicle after assembly tasks were complete. You also have the line workers who took matters into their own hands. My Uncle was has had a Chrysler / Plymouth ticket since 1976 had a Fury that kept coming back in for a rattle noise. Finally after numerous visits they removed the fender and fenderwell to find a hand full of bolts thrown into a concealed area during assembly. Krister Meister Bloomingdale, IL '66 SS #'s It could be in any of these places: under carpet, under dash, behind kick panels, above gas tank, in the headliner, in any of the seats, plenty of obscure places it could be. Good luck finding someone to make custom headers. I can't find anyone within 150 miles that makes custom headers anymore. If you live in a lower rent area, maybe you can find them, but in metro areas the shop can make more money doing catalytic converters and standard installs all day than taking a few days to make something custom. Re: [Chevelle-list] interior questions
Also in this month's issue of Custom Rodder or Rod & Custom is a story about some spray on stuff called Lizard Skin and a heavy duty version of it Scott - Original Message - From: "Bill Lessenberry" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "The Chevelle Mailing List" Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2005 9:29 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] interior questions I used the Tru-Max insulator mat. I got it from Summit PN TRU-BLIP11406. It's not as heavy or as expensive as the Dynamat, but it made a very noticeable difference in the amount of heat & noise coming into the car. I used 1 sheet (4 x 6 ft) under the carpet from the firewall to under the front seat. It's a cheaper and lighter alternative. BL
Re: [Chevelle-list] interior questions
hey, Clint Don't forget the inside of the door skins and panels as well. Enough layers will greatly reduce road noise from the doors and when you shut the door it will close like a Bentley - that nice dull thump - without a rattle. I put at least 2 layers on anything metal I could find. Dow Jones value of Dynamat stock went up right after I did my sound comp cars, then my '55 and then the Chevelle. Hell, I started to put some on my dog just to shut him up. No wife jokes here, but I thought about it once. Divorced her insteadit was actually cheaper than Dynamat in that instance. By the way, you going to the Pate swap meet at the Ft Worth Roundy Round track this weekend?...I think's it's this weekend. Re: [Chevelle-list] whats a Z16 chevelle
The Z16 is a 65 with a 396/375 engine. The option cost $1501.05 and there were only 201 made. Also, you couldn't buy one for near that price.
