Re: [Chevelle-List] Q: Stuck brake line connection!

2003-06-24 Thread Mike Holleman

Use anti seize on the threads of your new lines, whether SS or
not. SS is especially bad about gaulding the threads and self-destructing. I
have bought SS brake lines from both Inline tube and Classic Tube. Both provide
good quality products, but I will give the nod to Classic as for good service.

hope this helps.

  Thanks for your input!
Any particular brand or shop you would
recommend on the stainless steel lines?
How can I avoid the new lines getting stuck
like that? (In case I put in new original ones)

I'm going to try some of your tips
  today!
I've borrowed vice-grip pliers from my
  neighbor &have
soaked the connection with "556" over night.

2003-06-23 Thread Dale McIntosh
1. Penetrating oil.
2. Vice grips.
3. New line.
4. Correct flare nut wrench to install new line. These are from Sears
and you probably don't need the entire set but Sears sells them
individually as well. These are like $23 for the set. Another very
good investment I found is a set of 1/4" drive, 6-pt, deep well sockets
for bleeders. Sometimes you can't "turn" a wrench but you can get a
socket on it.

Gibbs or liquid wrench followed by vice grip pliers have always worked for me,
but they tear up the head. Course if the head is already rounded doesn't hurt
much.

soak it with PB Blaster then cut a slot in it. Use a big flat head screw driver to turn it.
