Re: It group study worth it or not!!!??? [7:6837]
Hi all, Fairly basic question I think, but as I've not had anything to do with Newsgroups before this one, I don't know the answer: I take it that if you subscribe, you send an e-mail which goes to everyone who's subscribed, but if you don't subscribe, (ie. you just post to the newsgroup) the only people that see your message are the ones that view the newsgroup. Is this the case, or have I got it wrong? One more quick question. Has the formatting of the threads gone all to pot. I've sent a couple of e-mails to Paul with a low priority asking if something is wrong, as I have a couple of other news groups which are fine. The problem seems to be that threads never seem to go deeper than one post, threads get separated, threads marked as 'watched' do not function correctly. Anybody? Cheers, Gaz Michael L. well, for over 100 emails a day this list must be sharing something. I don't recall your questions so I won't even theorize on why they weren't answered. However, one thing I will say, if your attitude is that the list owes you answers then you should probably look somewhere else Kevin Wigle - Original Message - From: Mike Peterson To: Sent: Friday, 01 June, 2001 18:50 Subject: It group study worth it or not!!!??? RE: It group study worth it or not!!!??? [7:6837]
It takes time to compose an answer. Time that often could be spent on one's own studies. I generally answer questions from folks who are relatively new to this field and need help setting up a home lab. Some questions come up again and again. I don't always answer. Some questions indicate that the poster didn't try the most rudementary search on CCO. I usually delete those. In the time that I have been on this list (since Nov 98) I have asked four questions. In each case someone took time from their day to help me. It is appreciated. I have learned so much from just reading posts. There are some very accomplished folks who contribute. There is also a sense of community. People striving towards a common goal. That is good. Often our families and co-workers don't understand what we do or what drives us to continue at it. We celebrate each other's successes. There have also been personal touches - like Oz talking about his 'Mum'. A great lesson in life. People on this list do not withhold information. They share. However, they do not spoonfeed the lazy. Make a determined effort to find the answer yourself. If you are still stuck, then post a question - but show what you have done to reach your present point. Remember - in our jobs we are paid to solve problems - not blame others - or find excuses. Good luck in your future no matter what you decide to do. -Original Message- From: Mike Peterson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, June 01, 2001 5:50 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: It group study worth it or not!!!??? Re: It group study worth it or not!!!??? [7:6837]
Is it cool to bag on this person because he's expressing concern over not getting responses from the group.. I don't think so.. as he says, isn't that what groupstudy is all about. Is is such a bad thing to EXPECT an answer? Otherwise what's the point of posting at all? Mike, I would suggest that now that you've expressed your concern, and people are listening, that you repost your question, or at least hang in the group long enough to give it another shot when you have other questions. But, also read the posts and try to answers other questions too. this group is based on give and take. I think, for the most part, the people in this group are a good group of people that have a lot of good experience, thoughts, knowledge, and suggestions on questions, *especially* related to Cisco exams and studying for Cisco exams (not neccessarily to fix my problem type posts). My 2 cents.. can't we all just get along=} Mike W. andyh wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... easy question: don't like it? easy answer: unsubscribe - Original Message - From: Mike Peterson To: Sent: Friday, June 01, 2001 11:50 PM Subject: It group study worth it or not!!!???
