[Cooker] Beta Bugs - Kernel Module agpgart does not include K133 patches

2000-09-25 Thread allen

The agpgart module appears not to incorporate the modules for the amd/via K133
chipset in the 2.2.17 kernel.

The patches can be found at irc.openprojects.net #nvidia

This allows us to install the Nvidia 3D drivers with a standard Mandrake
kernel. or else we *really* have to fsck around to get things to work.

[Cooker] arts sound server and via ac 97

2000-09-25 Thread Con Kolivas

I have a VIA ac'97 chipset on my motherboard (soltek 67kv+) and I had alsa
manually installed on 7.1 and sound worked fine. Since 7.2beta/cooker the
sound only works with the arts sound server off, and not all saved sounds in
the kde settings work when they're supposed to. If I turn on the arts sound
server the sound comes out all choppy. I'm still using 2.2.16-9mdk until you
make a final choice on 2.2.17, so I don't have the new version of alsa - is
it just this or a problem with the arts sound server and alsa on via ac 97?

[Cooker] sound problem

2000-09-25 Thread Jean Meloche

On my 2nd machine, I have a Acer FX-3D sound card (module ad1816).
The card is pnp and hardrake was unable to configure it. I had to
configure manually with pnpdump, isapnp before it could work.

I'm not sure whether this configuration is supposed to be manual
or not, but I vaguely recall not having to do any of this with
mandrake 7.1.

In any case, this was with harddrake-0.9.3-3mdk and kernel-smp-2.2.17-11mdk
(all the package exactly as the were on the beta 3 iso) on an smp
machine.

I assume that Mandrake admin resent all cooker files to the primary mirror.

My fmirror script suddenly told me I had to download 300 MB so I did this

I created a one line script in my path:-

[Cooker] joystick support

2000-09-25 Thread Rob Gordon

I have tried setting up the modules for my joystick. To get it
configured for a generic 4-axis, 4-button stick I did:

rmmod es1370
insmod es1370 joystick=1
modprobe joystick
modprobe joy-analog

Everything setup without error messages. Next I tried to test and
calibrate it but could not find any programs in 7.2beta3 which supports
this. Are there any?

I then downloaded joystick-1.2.15.tgz from
www.suse.cz/development/joystick and compiled jscal and jstest (since
the modules are already included in cooker). This worked but they are
only comsole/text based programs :-(

I then found ftp://fox.mit.edu/pub/xsw/libjsw1.3.0.tgz which was an
excellent Xwindow based calibration and test program (and its GPL!).

If no other joystick cal program is currently supplied, can this one (or
something better anyone?) be included with 7.2?

I would consider trying my hand at building an RPM for it if there is
interest in including with 7.2.

Cheers,
Rob

[Cooker] some bugs

2000-09-25 Thread Eric Fernandez

I have tried ulysse beta 3 and i would like to report some problems :
- minor bugs :
- kcontrol center does not run from the icon on the KDE panel. The
shortcuts adds a "%c" to the command kcontrol that is invalid.
- when using a zip drive, the mount point /mnt/zip is incorrectly /mnt.zip
in the shortcut of the icon added on desktop
-the k menu editor does not work at all, as the KDE media player enqueue

- more important bug :
- i am using an ide cd writer and a usb zip250 drive. They both are
correctly recognized and configured. Both are scsi emulated, but they are
given the same ID. When i want to use the writer, i need to disconnect the
zip drive. If the usb drive is connected, a cdrecord --scanbus command
gives only the usb drive connected on SCSI ID 0,0,0 and the writer does not
appear.
- kpackage looks very promising, but it is very unstable, i have a crash
every time i want to list the files of a package

Overall, it looks very promising, bravo for the wheel mouse configuration.

From a fresh 7.2b3 install, MandrakeUpdate doesn't seem to work with a

From a "cosmetic" point of view proxy configuration is working (buttons
are working correctly)... but not from a functional point of view :-(
It still not working and I can't see any package.

One point : the list of mirrors is correctly downloaded - so the FTP
proxy should work isn't it ?
When I select (in french) "liste des mises à jours" [list of updates?]
in "Mise à jour de développement" mode [developpment updates] :
 - first I see a message : "Attention ! Ces packages ne sont PAS testés.
En les installant votre système peut devenir instable" (which is normal
I think) ;
 - then "Veuillez patienter. Mise à jour de la liste des paquetages"
and, after 3 or 4 seconds (sometimes 10-20), nothing (whatever the
mirror I chose).

PS : A little suggestion : could the name of the package be given in the
help menu ?

[Cooker] Beta 3 - hostname with cablemodem

2000-09-25 Thread Serge Lussier

Hi,

I am not a newbie but I am far from an expert though -

I asked several days ago how I could setup my computer's hostname
to be the one provided by my ISP during DHCP client wakeup.

I dunno how dhcpcd works and where to set my hostname given
by the remote dhcp server.

The point is that during and after the init, the hostname sticks to
"default"
which is ugly/stupid.

Writing manually into /etc/hosts is stupid too ...

I would/could do "nslookup" and parse its output but as I said above
I don't know where/when to do it in the initscript files.

PLEASE, IS ANYBODY LISTENING (reading) ???

P.S. :
Maybe it is only an issue which will be corrected on the final product
just like
the previous versions.
If it is the case, then I say I am curious to know how it works
- I just can't resist to learn Linux ok ? :-)

Thanks
Serge Lussier

The FHS people decided to to move things around. Docs and man pages now
go to /usr/share, initrd stuff in /etc/init.d instead of /etc/rc.d/init.d ...

etc.

Yo,

First of all I must say that I am Chinese, I can give you a generic walkthrough
for for specific problems then I don't know if I can help or not...

Before you do anything: install the Japanese locales package file first. Now ..

First of all you would need to setup an i18n file. For system-wide setup please
use /etc/sysconfig/i18n. for user-base the file is ~/.i18n. It is a plain ASCII
file that can be edited from Emacs or vi.

Next, put some variables. If you plan to use Japanese, including program
messages, then put LC_ALL=jp (I believe jp is the Japanese locale ...I am not
too sure, better check for yourself.)

Then, logout and then log back in. Install a input method program, I believe
there is one called Kinput2.

   What does this mean ?
  It means failure :-)
Quick fix : change your /etc/init.d/xfs script by commenting actual
launch command, and launch xfs directly:
  su xfs -c "xfs -port -1 -daemon" -s /bin/sh
  instead of
  daemon --check xfs su xfs -c \"xfs -port -1 -daemon\" -s /bin/sh

Seems there have been some change in xfs configuration recently, that
affect some users (already two thread on this topic) onyl. Maybe
something linked to incremental or direct XFree86 upgrade N

I want to point out to the Mandrake team that I also have this problem.
I need to remove the words "daemon --check" from /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs so
that my xfs server will start as normal.

This problem has now been truely fixed for me.

Somehow I did not have the latest pam.rpm on my system.

The recent upgrades to sh-utils and pam have fixed it for me.

Re: [Cooker] boot catalog for creating ISOs from cooker

Subject: [Cooker] boot catalog for creating ISOs from cooker

Some time ago Troels Liebe Bentsen posted some scripts here to create ISO
images from a cooker mirror. In there he calls mkisofs -c
images/boot.cat,
but in the current cooker there's no images/boot.cat.

The boot cat is created by mkisofs, any existing boot.cat will get
overwritten, so you don't need there to be an existing one.

It is only made for bootable CD disks; I don't know exactly how it is used,
but I guess it is just a list of files that to load on bootup.

Re: [Cooker] Curious Issue with Beta and win98 (maybe)

2000-09-25 Thread Steven J Mackenzie

Now, I cannot, no matter what even boot windows 98.

Not from CD, floppy or hard disk.

Has *anyone* seen anything like this?

 I am running an Athlon K7 800 on a KT133 Motherboard

I had a similar-sounding problem (Duron 650, MSI 6330 MoBo/KT133 Chipset);
fixed by resetting my bios changes back to factory default settings.

I think in my case it was because I have an LS120, but no floppy, and it was
trying to boot from floppy.

I'm not sure how an OS install could have affected your bios settings though
...

Good luck,
Steven

RE: [Cooker] Beta 3 - hostname with cablemodem -- Problem with Hostname Field!

2000-09-25 Thread Brendan Kwolek

Umm
If you do the install the RIGHT way, there's definitely an opportunity to
type in your hostname...My chance came when you get the network setup
window and go to setup local LAN...
I did this first and then used the connect to Cable modem section as it's
the only way this seemed to work as the modules for my NICs only seem to get
installed when I do the LAN setup first..
What type of install are you doing? I know you have the option in BETA 3
using Expert..

Anyone out there had any success with @home DHCP servers and BETA 3? I have
not been able to connect to an @home DHCP server since LM 7.0 and I'd
certainly love to..Extra points to anyone who does it using DHCP and not
by specifying static, and has a LAN. Please pass along how to do the setup
:)
(ie. Should I be using PUMP, DHCP, DHCP Client, etc.)

Also, at several points, LM requests a fully qualified hostname.
Well guys, this field doesn't accept enough characters to take my fully
qualified hostname.
My host name is -#.#.ON.WAVE.HOME.COM
This has only fit once, and I belief it was in NetConf. Do I need a fully
qualified hostname for DHCP?
Is the reason it hasn't worked yet because I can't get that whole hostname
into the HOSTNAME field?

Please let me know!

Brendan

Subject: [Cooker] Beta 3 - hostname with cablemodem

[Cooker] Divide by Zero in Latest Cooker

2000-09-25 Thread Koloseike, Jason

* I finished mirroring cooker from
rpmfind.net/linux/MandrakeCooker/cooker/cooker last night at approx 7:20pm
EST.
*   Started a harddrive install
* Specified a connection to the internet using Cable (using the tulip
driver)
* Input the static information (that worked with beta1)
* Selected done, and the Installer choked with a "divide by zero"
error.
* Forced my way through the rest of the install (kept going back to
network config)
* Booted up cooker, configured the network.
* ifconfig made it appear that the connection was working, but a ping

2000-09-25 Thread Bob Lawrence

You may have damaged your main boot record on the hard drive. Try using a
Windows
98 boot ( or Windows 98 emergency disk) that has FDISK on it. Try the
command
FDISK/MBR. By using the / MBR switch, it will replace the startup code of
the
beginning for the MBR(it will overwrite the Linux info). The Windows
Partition info will be left in tact. After it replaces the startup code it
will return you
to the DOS prompt, just reboot. You can then try a fresh install of Linux.
Before you start
FDISK, check your CMOS to ensure that A: drive is in the boot order and
selected. i.e.. boot
order A:,C:, CD: etc..

Note: The /MBR switch is an undocumented feature of FDISK.

Use it at your own risk.

 I have a curious problem.

I installed the latest snapshot of the beta (from before the pam fixes
today)

Now, I cannot, no matter what even boot windows 98.

Not from CD, floppy or hard disk.

Has *anyone* seen anything like this?

 I am running an Athlon K7 800 on a KT133 Motherboard

 TIA

The boot cat is created by mkisofs, any existing boot.cat will get

 For what I know :
Two network cards on the computer wich is connected to the internet
( one for the internet and one for your private network )
or one network card if you're connected with a phone line modem
If you have only one sharing computer, you only need a crosspaired cable
 (RJ-45)

For more then one sharing computers you need a hub with direct cable
 (not crosspaired RJ-45)
And of course one network card on each shared computers :-).

 ( Am I right ? )

Yes -- prefectly right: you need "Any connectivity to Internet plus a
Network Adapter".

The network adapter will be used to share the Internet connection with
other computers on your Local Area Network.

Re: [Cooker] beta3 bugs (fail to detect nic during install)

2000-09-25 Thread michael nazaroff

Thats good that someone else has the same problem with there nic card, hehe
thought I was doing something wrong or maybe just going crazy! But
everything was the same for my system. What going on with Kde Media Player
enqueue I clicked on a mp3 file and it tried starting but never does and
then suddenly everything under kde starts being really sluggish have to log
out and back in to make it so the mouse pointer runs without skipping.
Another thing I was playing around with was dragging and droping which has
some serious problems again under kde problems with lag? Is this Mandrake
specific or something for them kde developers are working on?

I can confirm this same problem. When I installed beta 3 on each of my 2
computers and selected cable modem, the installer gives the message:

"No ethernet network adapter is currently configured on your system.
Please
run the hardware configuration tool."

But as soon as I run linuxconf, it finds the device and sets up the
drivers. I
still had to do "ifup eth0" to kick dhcp after linuxconf finished the setup
and
exited.

The 2 nics I use are PCI NE2000 clone (rtl8129?) and a 3COM 3c900 (3c95x).

Also, another issue during the install. After the network install fails,
it
goes to the Time Zone setup. Once this is complete is returns to the
network
setup, fails again after repeating the inputs for the same nic, then again
goes
into the Time Zone setup. This repeats endlessly untill I choose 'Disable
network". Then it skips over the printer setup!

Cheers,
Rob

[Cooker] Misc Comments/Probs

2000-09-25 Thread Alex Hayes

7.2b3 on an AMD machine that had no probs on 7.1:

1. Attempt to install additional rpm's failed because installer only looked
to an "RPMS2" directory on CD when there was only "RPM" directory. Manual
RPM install was OK so this was just annoying.

2. KDE seizes up frequently. Can still move mouse and click on things, but
nothing will run and I get an error like "Can't open " on some things.
Can't tell if this is a KDE2 or a 7.2b3 problem. This was problem on at
least two boxes.

3. CUPS failed on install. This was wiered because on my other two boxes,
I had no such problem.

4. I was not queried to install 2.4 kernel, and instead 2.2.17 was
installed. Why no query for 2.4?

5. One box had new graphical boot sequence, the other two didn't and I
could not identify any reason for the difference. Perhaps a good early
screen in the install should ask in plain language what options a user wants
like:

Use graphical startup __
Use Kernel 2.4 __
Use X Windows 4.__ __
etc...

6. Not for me but for newbie users, the install routine is still relatively
daunting. Shouldn't goal with such a good install be to allow total newbie
to go through process, including disk partitioning, without ever saying
"huh?" For the most part the current install succeeds in this, but I still
think some more text during the install would help.

7. Lilo and grub, are both necessary? They are both ugly, can't a
graphical boot OS chooser be implemented?

8. One box had great installer graphics, the other two had degraded
graphics quality (i.e. the text at the top of the installer was blocky).
All had at least 8MB graphics boards that are fully supported in linux. Is
this a "known issue"?

I'm sure you'll find a complete list of supported cards (see kernel
docs), but if I remember well, cards based on BT848, BT849, BT878 and
BT879 chipsets are supported.

I own a Pinnacle studio PC TV rave, which is cheap and worked OK. I
could not make it work for a long time though, because bttv support is

[Cooker] [Sparc] Problems with 7.1b

2000-09-25 Thread Leif Sawyer

I'm new to the list, but i did a scan of the archives and
didn't see anything on this.

(* funny, they're not listed on the mailing list page, but
  a little reg-ex matching.. )

I've got an Ultra-2 Enterprise, 300Mhz Sparc with 1Gb of
Ram, onboard HME and Sun QFE.

Two questions:

1: I'm able to install (unlike 7.0, which wouldn't boot) and
get the system running, however trying to initialize the
HME or QFE interfaces causes a kernel panic. I'll include
the text of that panic at the bottom of the message.

2: I tried to then upgrade my kernel (by booting back into solaris,
thank goodness for dual-boot) and downloaded 2.2.17, rebooted
back into linux, and tried to compile.

For whatever reason, the Makefiles seem to be configured for
cross-compiling as a default.

Trying to remove the '-m64 -mcpu=ultrasparc' lines from
the AFLAGS and CFLAGS gets me a little further, but
when the compiler passes things over to the assembler, i get
an Architecture mismatch on "movcc"
(requires v9|v9a; requested arch is sparclite)

adding -Wa,-Av9a to the CC line gets me a little further, but I'm having
lots of warnings, and it finally bombs out with a arch mismatch trying
to link the object files. as sparc:v8plus input is not compatible with
sparc:v9 output..

This doesn't seem right.. Has anybody been able to compile the kernel
under sparc/linux? am i possibly missing any packages from the
default developer install?

[Cooker] esound update for 7.1 - testers needed

2000-09-25 Thread Vincent Danen

Is anyone running stock 7.1 and willing to test an update to esound?
There's a security bug in it and I'm unable to test it myself (doesn't
work too well under vmware). I'll send you the RPMs (they're not in
updates yet) if you want. I basically had to backport a patch from
0.2.19 to 0.2.17 that comes with 7.1 so if anyone is willing to test
this please let me know. The only machine I have with 7.1 on it
doesn't have a sound card in it.

If anyone is willing and able to help, please email me personally and
I'll send you the rpms. Thank you very much in advance.

[Cooker] colorlogs

2000-09-25 Thread Guillaume Rousse

colorlogs rpm install script add this line to rc.local :
tail -f /var/log/messages|/usr/local/sbin/colorlogs.pl/dev/tty12
but colorlogs.pl is installed in /usr/bin.

I could have corrected this myself, but i was unable to find the source
rpm on the mirrors.

It means failure :-)
Quick fix : change your /etc/init.d/xfs script by commenting actual
launch command, and launch xfs directly:
su xfs -c "xfs -port -1 -daemon" -s /bin/sh
instead of
daemon --check xfs su xfs -c \"xfs -port -1 -daemon\" -s /bin/sh

I want to point out to the Mandrake team that I also have this problem.
I need to remove the words "daemon --check" from /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs so

This problem has now been truely fixed for me.

Somehow I did not have the latest pam.rpm on my system.

The recent upgrades to sh-utils and pam have fixed it for me.

Hello cooker,
I've had this problem with each of the three betas;
My Epson 860 USB printer is recognized at installation with the correct

great! No matter what I try however after install, I cannot get the printer
to print. Any suggestions?

Hard Drake detects my sound card as a sb32 awe. When i try to change it it
gives me an error device driver busy
ALSO WHAT DID U GUYS DO THE SNDCONFIG. I REALLY HOPE U GUYS PUT IT BACK IN

havea sb16 pnp isa soundcard.
My voodoo2 is detected as a banshee. I don't even know how to change that.
My modem is detected as 56 sporters modem. however i have a 56k pnp us
robotics internal modem. I tried changing that through hard drake but it
wouldn't work.

The enlightment configurator tool bar is "greyed out" when i select
enlightment. The configurator tool use to work with 7.1.

Cups is totally screwed up. When i click on www configuaration... it starts
netscape but netscape tells me it can't connect to host. I tried to restart
my computer and i saw that when it tries to shutdown cups it fails. Also i
tried to restart cups but it tells me that it wasn't able to stop (Failed)
cups then tells me cups is ok.
I have hp812C.

hope this helps make to make LM a better product. If u have any question or

[Cooker] Some bug reports for Beta 3

2000-09-25 Thread Michael Stucki

- ISDN is absolutely not working with my card. It's an AVM Fritz plug 'n play.
   Problems:
   - Harddrake doesn't recognize the card (Type is 27)
   - After setting Type, IRQ and IOPORT in /etc/isdn/profile/card/mycard manually, I
tried to start /etc/rc.d/init.d/isdn4linux, which fails:
It says, that the hisax module cannot be loaded.
Now I noticed that isapnp.o was not loaded: modprobe isapnp (no errors)
   - Cat /proc/isapnp reports that the isdn-card is inactive
Now more ideas. Just this: It worked by doing manually in LM 7.1.

- I still notice that KPPP is shown on the Desktop. This is irrelevant for
users of ISDN, etc.

- I think that the ppp-rpm is required for doing ISDN (because of
missing pap-secrets)

- Sound is not working. The card (AWE32) is found, but when testing it reports
errors (OPL/3 is busy or so). Also I do not hear anything, even if I don't get
any errors.

- LILO is loaded with option "hdd=ide-scsi". This is okay, since this device is
a cd-burner. But the problem is that the ide-scsi module is not loaded
automatically. After doing it manually everything works fine.

- gcombust has no menu entry

- gtoaster seems to be very outdated (I miss some buttons...)
I also noticed that mp3info is needed for calculating track length.
Why not a rpm-dependency so that mp3info must be installed to use gtoaster ?

- I have a link on the kicker panel to "Mandrake Doc". But when I try to open
this, KDE says that the file
   "/usr/share/applnk/Documentation/Mandrake Doc.desktop" does not exist.

- I cannot start kcontrol. Clicking on it brings absolutely nothing.

- I did an expert install and chose groups "KDE", "Multimedia" and "Games" and
individual package choosing.
I notice that GNOME-Audio is chosen, even if no GNOME is selected. Is there
a dependency-problem ???

- DrakNet: When I want to set up an ISDN connection, I have to choose a
provider. I would like to have a group "local" for every country which contains
nationwide numbers...

- After my installation, drakxservices show the entry for xinetd twice. Any
idea why ???

- My printer (HP Deskjet 510) can be installed, but the test page is much too
large. So I say "no" to the question and choose another driver.
I took "HP Deskjet Series Cups 1.1" which worked well.

- Harddrake lists my BT878 card twice. See the output of lspcidrake:

Summary : The Little Brother's Database
Description :
This package was inspired by the Big Brother Database package
available for various Emacs mailers, and by Brandon Long's "external
query" patch for the Mutt mail user agent. (Note that this patch has
been incorporated into the main-line mutt versions as of mutt 0.93.)

The package doesn't use any formal database libraries or languages,
although it should be quite easy to extend it to use, e.g., an
installed PostgreSQL server as it's back end.

lbdb can be used to extract e-mail addresses from your incoming mail
stream into some kind of address-book which you can access via mutt's
query function.

Install this package if you are using mutt, an email programm, and
want to get easy access to your collection of email addresses.

You may have damaged your main boot record on the hard drive. Try
using a Windows 98 boot ( or Windows 98 emergency disk) that has
FDISK on it. Try the command FDISK/MBR. By using the / MBR switch, it
will replace the startup code of the beginning for the MBR(it will
overwrite the Linux info). The Windows Partition info will be left in
tact. After it replaces the startup code it will return you to the DOS
prompt, just reboot. You can then try a fresh install of Linux. Before
you start FDISK, check your CMOS to ensure that A: drive is in the
boot order and selected. i.e.. boot order A:,C:, CD: etc..

Note: The /MBR switch is an undocumented feature of FDISK.

[Cooker] Mandrake 7.1 UK, Linux magazine this month- S3 Trio graphics card bugs and Netscape crash

2000-09-25 Thread etonkin

Hello people,

Thought I might mention that the X server for this graphics card (the S3
Trio3D/2X) requires you to manually set the sw_cursor option to avoid having a
big white square instead of the cursor (by editing the XF86config file)

Is this something you could 'know' automatically? Because most Mandrake users
wouldn't think to look through the XF86config and find the comment that tells
you to set this option...

Furthermore, it seems that the newest Netscape is still allergic to the typing
of large comments into these textbox widgets (as in HTML text boxes) and
ld-linux.so eventually manages to crash X-windows (as other users have suggested
in the past). The only way to stop your computer from crashing totally is to
notice the moment the mouse goes sluggish and killall -9 ld-linux.so.whatever
it's called... this is probably an evil and unacceptable bug.

[Cooker] Kde2 + some minor bugs

2000-09-25 Thread Zeljko Vukman

1. Changing default icon on panel - Error: The desktop entry file has no
type=...Entry.
We've had this before. Chris knows what it's all about.

2. Right click on any text file - choose Open with - Text editor. It opens two kedit
windows
   - one empty, and one with chosen text file.

3. Menuedit doesn't work. You can't launch it.

4. Kpackage (again :). When you open it, you get this error message:
File not found:/root/Package Manager.
Now, kpackage can load *rpm files, but still not install any.

I run:
Mandrake 7.1
Before Kde2 installation I run urpme qt.

[Cooker] Laptop distribution

2000-09-25 Thread etonkin

Whilst I'm thinking about it, what about putting the /usr/doc and similar
'statics' on a CDrom and giving the CDrom along with a laptop distribution and a
couple of scripts allowing you to mount this cd in place of your standard
/usr/doc and similar folders? It saves a lot of space on your average
distribution, and that gives you in essence an extra 600 megabytes of hard disk
space to use. Admittedly this means you'll have a lot of documentation and
static content that you might never have a use for, but hey, nothing's perfect.

I found that this was the only way I could get a full-size distribution on one
gigabyte of hard disk- relegate all non-essential information to existence on a
CDrom. I don't see why you couldn't formalise this organisation on a future
Mandrake distribution (but then I am as the two short planks, which is to say,
dense)

  Subject: [Cooker] Mdk 7.2 beta:
  installation problem

  dear all,

during the installation of mdk 7.2 beta on my
laptop (PII) right after the keyboard selection i got a message:
CAN'T CALL METHOD ASK_WARN ON AN UNDEFINED
  VALUE.
and the installation doesn't go further and stops
  at partitioning.

i tried the installation from the same cdrom on
another computer (Athlon, not a laptop) and it worked perfectly. then i also
tried other 3 laptops (PIII) and it always gives the same error
  message.

is there anyonefamiliar with this kind of
  problem?

  thanx and greetings

  veronica
