http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6320 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-10 23:10 --- ??? Ooops. I didn't notice that it is calling xboard instead of the xboard.real :-( It will probably not cause DOS, unless you are running it as root, because there are limits set by default - e.g. max user processes is 7168. It is a pretty silly bug anyway :-) For me it worked with xboard.real, but I have $PATH set to point /usr/games already. It needs it for gnuchess, AFAIK. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEW creation_date: description: The file /usr/bin/xboard is missing. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5568 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-09 23:36 --- SIG32 is caused by pthreads - it is used internally to notify a thread manager about some things inside of pthreads implementation. It is not a bug per se. This sets gdb to ignore it : handle SIG32 nostop noprint pass BTW, are you seeing also SIGTRAPs ? That is more interesting, since it breaks debugging of multi-threaded applications for me completely. I described the problems I have got here : http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4709 Usually I get SIG32, then set it to nostop, noprint, pass and immediately get SIGTRAP after typing continue. This usually hoses the debugger completely - no stacktrace, kill, quit do not work (hang) etc. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: MythTV (http://www.mythtv.org) is a multi-threaded application. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4844 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-25-08 18:35 --- Please, stop this inflamatory tone. KDE is using ~/Desktop for many years and no other DE was ever using it. Now Gnome folks decided, that it is perhaps good idea to use it too (I think so, btw, even as a KDE user) and have to deal with the KDE specific files there. Not the other way around. Gnome is the culprit there, not KDE - why should KDE developers patch their software, just because Gnome people decided, they will change their standard? If you enter a room and demand that everybody changes his place, just because you want to sit in the middle, you would be swiftly kicked out. Regardles whether your sitting in the middle is technically better. The quick (and dirty) patch for Gnome is already in place and this is a thing for future standardization between KDE and GNOME teams. There is nothing wrong with Gnome using the ~/Desktop, but they have to play by the rules then. Alternativelly, the rules can be changed, but by mutual consensus only, not by demanding, that the other one has to change. So stop the flaming that KDE does not use VFS, that they should use virtual files etc. Or submit a patch for that, that's even better. Thanks. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4844 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-25-08 21:06 --- Yes, Corbeille (or Trash) is created by KDE by default. It is possible to check for the .directory file in there and hide the directory if the file contains Trash (it does, the french version is just one of the translations and the english one is always there - so no need to check for every possible language). Alternatively, if it is too much trouble, you can change the location of your desktop, trash, autostart and document location for KDE in the kcontrol (KDE control panel). BTW - isn't this a bit cleaner solution, than having to patch Nautilus ? Just set the default desktop directory for KDE (or Gnome) elsewhere. [Cooker] [Bug 4709] [kernel] Launched shells hang waiting for system call to end
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4709 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-08 18:11 --- I have seen exactly the same thing with OpenSceneGraph :-( It seems that there is a kernel bug in thread signal handling - one thread dies and the rest is waiting for it forever. Some more info about this problem. It seems that also stock kernel 2.4.22pre10 exhibits this behavior. Recently I've clean-installed Mandrake 9.2 beta2 (formatting the '/' partition, and leaving only '/home' intact), and the problem still exists. The symptoms are: after some time the system is running, it gets impossible t start new shell processes - bash, csh, any. All applications that try to launch a shell for some task hang at that stage too - so non-interactive shells cannot start too. The shells that are already started are working fine - it's only impossible to start new ones. I've run a screen session with multiple windows and waited for the problem to occur, and then did strace on various programs that launch shells. They look similarly - they susually hang in waitpit() or read() function.
[Cooker] [Bug 2846] [mtools] Floppy formatter incompatible with supermount
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2846 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-28-07 17:57 --- Does this mean, that there will be no way for the user to format a floppy unless he becomes root and unmounts the floppy first ? That's pretty bad, since most people do not know that and MDK ships with supermount enabled by default. I think, that this bug should be moved to supermount, or a wrapper for mtools created, which will work the problem around by unmounting the floppy, formatting it and remounting with supermount back. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2281 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-05 11:51 --- There is even more with kmix : - it is not possible to use second soundcard's mixer, while using ALSA. Kde (and kmix) always default to the first card (in my case onboard Intel chip) and my second PCI SB Live is not seen in the drop-down box, where you can select the mixer you want to use. With OSS, it works fine - you get a second mixer tab and that's it. - the labels are ridiculous - some sliders on the mixer are displayed, when in fact these are just switches in ALSA (e.g. have on/off value). Why there is a slider for THIS ? (e.g. the +20dB mic boost switch). Secondly, did you see the array of sliders for e.g. Audigy or SB Live ? That does not fit not only on one screen, but not even on TWO! (I have dual-head with Xinerama). Huge usability issue here, I think. I had to switch to use alsamixergui instead, but I am not exactly happy with it. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Enable the show labels option in the kmix. The labels need to displayed in a clean way.

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2601 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-02 16:03 --- This is very similar, to what I have got before I downgraded my Nvidia drivers. I run in the 24bit mode and was getting this kind of corruption after a while - first on window title bars (e.g. Keramik titles on active windows screwed up), then later artifacts on the task list and on the desktop in my KDE. I dismissed it as Nvidia bug before (I run an SMP and dual monitor setup here, there are known issues with that), but this seems more general. Since you use the nv (free) driver and have this too, I guess that either there is something with XRender used for blending (I tried to disable the hardware acceleration of blending with Option RenderAccel off, same problems) or XFree itself. Could you try to switch to : - flat, non-themed look ? [Cooker] [Bug 2359] [glibc] New: undefined symbol __init_array_end

My machine is dual 2.4GHz Xeon, NVidia Quadro 4 card with Nvidia drivers, softwarewise I had Mandrake 9.0 installed, then upgraded packages to cooker. This error started to occur after the upgrade to glibc 2.3.1-8 or 2.3.1-9. I did some research about this, seems that some RedHat guys changed the linker scripts in December to add these symbols, perhaps the patch was not correct, or the dynamic linker does not take it into account, I do not know. What I know, though, that the symbols init_array_start and init_array_end were not in the glibc of old Mandrake 9.0 neither in the glibc before 2.3.1-8 (easy to check with nm -D command). I hope, that it helps. Jan --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
