Re: [Cooker] hd.img

2000-10-18 Thread Nate Coffey

Maybe try this...

When you have the new version of Mandrake installed (assuming RC1), boot up
into X. Mount your Extensions ISO once you are booted. Open up DrakConf,
and use the "Live update" (hope Symantec doesn't mind Mandrakesoft using
their trademark :-P). Live update allows you to update from directly within
a working Linux installation, rather than using the install CD and choosing
the Update (or Rescue) option. Hope this helps!!

Re: [Cooker] LS-120 drives??

2000-10-17 Thread Nate Coffey

Yeah, but can you actually create a bootdisk from directly within the
install program? This is probably where I, and most others, would use it
the most, considering that floppies and their replacements are basically
outdated for everything EXCEPT bootdisks.

Re: [Cooker] rebutal

2000-10-17 Thread Nate Coffey

Is this almost over yet??? All this BS about what country is better, which
one lost what war, etc, etc, etc. It is pretty sad when you have to
sort messages by subject, then just delete everything that has the subject
"Rebutal".

I am sick of this, and if anyone else agrees, please voice your opinion too!

I mean, I could be wrong, but that would assume that a Mandrake mailing list
doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the software we are trying to
support. If you really want to complain, head over to RedHat's mailing list
and b*tch and moan there, so the rest of us civilized Linux users can carry
on with what really matters.

[Cooker] mousdrak

2000-10-15 Thread Nate Coffey

I was trying to use MousDrak in 7.2b3, but to no
avail... it doesn't start, doesn't give me any error messages, just
nothing.  I was just wondering if this has been fixed in 7.2rc1.  If
this has been answered in another message, sorry, I just joined this list
yesterday (please show MERCY!!! :-) )

[Cooker] LS-120 drives??

2000-10-15 Thread Nate Coffey

Has anyone had any luck with creating bootdisks,
autoconfig disks, etc. using a LS-120 (aka Superdisk) drive?  I would like
to be able to create these disks (especially from within the install), and it
seems to be working, but then I find out that the perl script fails because it
assumes that it should use /dev/fd0 the thing that baffles me, is that is
correctly detects the drive as /dev/hdd, but yet doesn't change any parameters
for the perl scripts for making the bootdisk.

I have been trying to use this LS-120 since 7.0
(which didn't even detect the floppy as /dev/hdd) with no luck at all.  I
would hate to hear that I have revert back to the ancient component known as the
1.44MB floppy drive, which is terribly slow and limited or even worse, use
both a 1.44MB floppy drive alongside the LS-120 drive (floppy drive
replacement??? hmmm.)

Thanks,

[Cooker] Menu items in 7.2 beta 3

2000-10-14 Thread Nate Coffey

Does anyone else have a problem with the menu
system and taskbar?  When I try to open several different programs, whether
from the menu system or taskbar, they simply don't open.  KControl didn't
open until I removed the "%c" parameter from its shortcut, and I thought this
would solve the problem, but this is the only program I found that could be
resolved in this way.  I haven't had any problem with using the Alt+F2 Run
box for these same programs I don't know, maybe this is more of a minor
annoyance than anything else, but it would be nice to have a working menu system
immediately after installing Mandrake.

Thanks,
