First boot after installation appears to work and system boots into linux properly. Second boot after installation - LILO descriptor checksum error. [Cooker] [Bug 2237] [pcmcia-cs-x11] Pcmcia hangs on startup (RC1)
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 22:26 --- ok, I've narrowed this down to acpi... I can faithfuly recreate the pcmcia hang issue on my laptop (Toshiba Portege 7200CT) In /etc/lilo.conf if append does not have acpi=off the system should hang while starting pcmcia services. (Dont forget to /sbin/lilo after you modify your config!) So while this bug rears it's head as a PCMCIA issue, it's really an ACPI issue. Hope this helps those of you out there that actually can do the magic to fix this. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: When booting with my Sony Vaio laptop FX-301, pcmcia hangs on startup under the following conditions: - Either an Inserted Hama Compactflash-Reader card (Typ II Adapter) - Or a Self-compiled 2.4.21pre4-6custom kernel (config available on request) It works fine using the same custom kernel (same config) compiled on Mandrake 9.0 with the 9.0 pcmcia package (and with inserted Hama Adapter)
[Cooker] [Bug 2237] [pcmcia-cs-x11] Pcmcia hangs on startup (RC1)
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 22:29 --- Reinhard, I believe your laptop should have been trying to load eth0 (which i'm betting was a pcmcia card?) before pcmcia services had started... mine does this as well but this delay is expected. [Cooker] [Bug 2237] [pcmcia-cs-x11] Pcmcia hangs on startup (RC1)
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 01:25 --- I can reproduce this on a Toshiba Portege 7200CT laptop. This occurs with or without any cards in the system. Not enough details to try differnt config's. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: When booting with my Sony Vaio laptop FX-301, pcmcia hangs on startup under the following conditions: - Either an Inserted Hama Compactflash-Reader card (Typ II Adapter) - Or a Self-compiled 2.4.21pre4-6custom kernel (config available on request) It works fine using the same custom kernel (same config) compiled on Mandrake 9.0 with the 9.0 pcmcia package (and with inserted Hama Adapter)

https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2175 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 01:28 --- I have reproduced this in the english version. Details listed in bug 2243. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: (German version): When doing an individual package selection install, selecting a package having unresolved dependencies works, but when selecting another package with unresolved dependencies on the same page without having moved the page itself the dialog cannot be removed from the page (well actually it can be done with some tricks ;-) Also the mouse flickers as soon as the first package with unresolved dependencies has been selected (flickering disappears after moving the page). I have testet this in the mode where all packages are visible. Reinhard
[Cooker] [Bug 2237] [pcmcia-cs-x11] Pcmcia hangs on startup (RC1)
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 06:01 --- Just installed RC-2 (network install from ftp) and the problem still exists. This issue does not exist in 9.0 Additional Details to help recreate this issue: First reboot from install everything works ok. I made the following changes via DrakBoot 1. OS Boot menu display time from 10 seconds to 5 seconds 2. Changed initial boot display for linux from 800x600 frame buffer (I forget the depth) to 1024x768 @ 16 bits 3. removed all useless os boot menu choices leaving only linux and windows (Note: windows=hda1 install of WinXP sp1+patches) 4. Enabled the the Clean /tmp at each reboot checkbox I _Believe_ this to be the cause I will test again later --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
