When I mount a drive with Kwikdisk it mounts but doesn't show up as such in
Kwikdisk, I didn't notice that the app was having trouble and I tried to
unmount the drive with it however instead it tried to mount the drive again
and from that point on the drive wouldn't unmount or even open no matter what
I tried. After rebooting I was able to replicate this in the console by trying
to mount the same drive twice, the second mount command locked up the terminal
and neither pressing CTRL+C or using the kill command would terminate mount.
Shutting down my computer when this ocurred for some reason also showed that
my home partition was locked and it wouldn't unmount, I lost all changes to
any files in /home made since I booted my computer.

The drive I had this trouble with was an LG CD-ROM 8483B (I tried several CD's
however the result was alway's the same), I have not yet tried it with my
Plextor PX2410A CD writer, I do not know if the bug also affects floppy drives
and removable USB drives however both so I would appreciate it if this could
also be checked.

If more information is required I can be reached at n.thomp at sasktel.net .

Those triggers never worked for me. I used to recreate those links after
updating for quite some time because I hadn't the time to figure out
what was wrong. I also remember seeing a bug report about this once, but
I cannot find it any more now.

Comment to comment #3:

Using

[ "$2" = "0" ] || exit 0

should not trigger the trigger as long as at least one target package remains
($2 indicates how many instances of the target packages are installed on the
system). So updating mozilla should be ok.

This issue can be also reproduced by removing e.g. kernel-2.4.22.12mdk-1-1mdk.
The cleanup script then removes way too may entries from the grub menu.lst. I
don't see a pattern any more, So I'll attach both menu.lst files.

This should probably be canged to:

Alternatively /etc/sysconfig/suspend-scripts/suspend.d/anacron could be also
removed and anacron could be added to RESTART_SERVICES in /etc/sysconfig/suspend.

This is caused by /usr/lib/bonobo-activation-server which sometimes is still
running from a previous session (for the same user). After killing that process
gnome comes up again without an error message.

If RPM_CHECK is set, msec daily reports the files belonging to packages that are
modified on the system. Some of these files are BOUND to be modified, especially
config files. But the admin keeps getting warning emails about these files
anyways.

A GREAT improvement would be to include the possibility to acknowledge the
changes, so that msec only warns the admin the NEXT time the file is changed.

I understand that at the moment, the RPM_CHECK feature is merely based on
rpmverify, and that it might be difficult to implement some kind of
fingerprinting without rewriting part of the code... but it would be SO great.

Thanks,
Smoke

[Cooker] [Bug 6080] [OpenOffice.org] New: Autopilots in OpenOffice.org cannot save template: General I/O Error

2003-10-05 Thread [mr]
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6080

   Product: OpenOffice.org
 Component: packaging
Summary: Autopilots in OpenOffice.org cannot save template:
General I/O Error
   Product: OpenOffice.org
   Version: 1.1-0.rc4.2mdk
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: P2
 Component: packaging
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

How to reproduce: (the lables might not be correct, I'm using the german version)
 1) start openoffice
 2) try to create a new template using the autopilot (either Letter or Fax works
for me)
 3) choose finish
 -> error message

How to fix: (see also http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/kotyzov_oo-autopilot.html)
 - remove /usr/lib/openoffice/share/template/extra (which doesn't exist btw)
 - remove ~/.openoffice/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/ucb/Hierarchy.xcu

When removing a kernel grub's menu.lst, it is also removed from grub's menu.lst.
According to etc\sysconfig\installkernel this should not happen:

# If you want to force AUTOREMOVE entry at rpm install set this option
# to yes if you don't want to do AUTOREMOVE (done automatically
# currently in beginner mode) set it to no
AUTOREMOVE=""

Either this comment shoud be updated or the code of installkernel should really
only remove the menu entry if CLASS in \etc\sysconfig\system is beginner (?).

(Sorry for the \, but I cannot post forward slashes ATM)

When printing the URL above, the utf-8 chars are replaced by a small square

Printing via xprint from mozilla works.

Unfortunatly this workaround (well, xprint imho is a workaround, mozilla should
"simply" produce correct postscript - if xprint is required to do so, the
mozilla rpm should imho depend on it) is not an option in the other browsers
like galeon which use mozilla's render engine.

But I understand that this has to be fixed upstream...

In the gnome-network-preferences the port numbers for the proxies are not saved.
If you change the value, exist the dialog and enter it again, the value for the
port is 0.

To be more precisely: If one opens gconf-editor and looks at the values, they
are in fact changed - but when gnome-network-preferences is started again, they
are resetted to 0.

btw2: one could probably also argue that this is a bug in the mergeant package
because the file is broken. But I think /usr/lib/yelp-db2html should not create
core dumps even if it encounters a bad file.

But the file in the mergeant package should be fixed also ;)

[Cooker] [Bug 4097] [totem] New: removing totem doesn't remove config entries

The default config entries for totem (especially the settings for the
video-thumbnailer) in /etc/gconf created by the post install script are not
undone when the package is removed. So after removing totem, no longer
thumbnails for videos are created (even if another thumbnailer is still installed).

This is a rather critical problem for Mandrake installations on laptops.

Because I can't find previous reports of this fairly well-known "problem", I'm
submitting this to bugzilla.

With the current RedHat/Mandrake wireless init scripts, cardctl scheme'ing DOES
NOT WORK, since wireless.opts is not parsed. This makes it impossible to quickly
change between wep/non-wep networks via the console without manually editing the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file each time you change networks.

Still valid with 2.4.21-0.13mdk.

I did some further tests:

 - using "cardctl eject" before removing the card seems to be save, no
freezes so far.

 - removing the card when the interface is down also seems to be save
(e.g. after the dhcp client gives up getting an ip address if there is
no dhcp server).

 - BUT: removing the card while the interface is active (LEDs on the
cards are on/blinking) still freezes my system every time.

[Cooker] [Bug 2710] [suspend-scripts] New: suspend-scripts: /etc/sysconfig/suspend-scripts/suspend.d/services not working

2003-03-04 Thread mr
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2710

   Product: suspend-scripts
 Component: libsasl2-plug-ntlm
   Summary: suspend-scripts: /etc/sysconfig/suspend-
scripts/suspend.d/services not working
   Version: 1.3-1mdk
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please add to /etc/sysconfig/suspend-scripts/suspend.d/services:

# suspend: 15
# resume: 25

This script isn't executed ATM because those two lines are missing.

Reason for the numbers: The services should probably be stopped somewhere at the
beginning but after sound (suspend is 10) and loaded again before sound (resums
is 30) because it is also used to start/stop alsa.

[Cooker] [Bug 2408] [zsh] incorrect key bindings for "Pos1" / "Ende" ("Pos1" / "End") in /etc/zshrc

the fix contains a small error:

diff shows:
- bindkey "^[[6~" down-line-or-history
- bindkey "^[[7~" beginning-of-line
bindkey "^[[8~" end-of-line

"down-line-or-history" shoud not have been removed - but "end-of-line", which
was NOT removed.

In /etc/zshrc one can find the following keybindings for "Pos1" / "Ende" ("Pos1"

  bindkey "^[[7~" beginning-of-line
  bindkey "^[[8~" end-of-line
But those two only work in RXvt.

For gnome-terminal the following keybindings are working:
  bindkey "^[OF" end-of-line
  bindkey "^[OH" beginning-of-line

For real xterm, the following keybindings are required:
  bindkey "^[[1~" beginning-of-line
  bindkey "^[[4~" end-of-line

(at least for my (german) keyboard).
