http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1471 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-13 17:47 --- I don't have a Removable Media icon any more, but the problem persists with any "Link to Location" or "Hard disc" that points to a file. Using kdebase-3.1-82mdk (rebuilt from cooker SRPM for 9.0 system). Editing File Associations as described in my comment of 2003-03-08 19:32 solves the problem for me. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to amend the SRPM to build without the extra entry. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEW creation_date: description: Clicking on Removable media produces "KDEInit could not launch 'kfmclient'" error message. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1471 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-08 19:32 --- I'm seeing this problem with any desktop "Link to Location" that points to a directory (as opposed to a file). I traced the cause to the file associations for inode/directory which had two entries named Konqueror (kfmclient.desktop and kfmclient_dir.desktop). Deleting the first solved the problem for me. This was present as of kdebase-3.1-72mdk.src.rpm (rebuilt for 9.0 system). Right click on desktop 2. Create New -> CD/DVD-ROM Device 3. Select correct device 4. Insert CD/DVD 5. Double click to mount + access 6. Bang! Error message appears again. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1471 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-07 17:00 --- Well is seems to me that in RC2 the icon is deletable - and isn't recreated when you delete it. Can anyone confirm? Besides, the error seems to be fixed now, at least on a clean install of RC2 (not upgrade). For upgraded RC2, please try with a new user (or delete your $HOME directory to reset all the settings an your Desktop dir). http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1471 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-07 17:16 --- The icon is not recreated on Cooker too. Basically, if you delete it, there is no way to get it back, except of hacking some scripts or recreating it by hand. Somebody mentioned on Cooker, that it was commented out from the scripts for RC2. So, I can confirm the icon missing. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEW creation_date: description: Clicking on Removable media produces "KDEInit could not launch 'kfmclient'" error message. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1471 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-06 15:52 --- There are a lot of "me toos" on this bug already. Just a bit more information: in 9.1RC2 the "Removable Media" icon is not created anymore. (Commented out in /usr/bin/kdedesktop-links) This is not the solution howvere, since creating your own shortcut to a mount (as I have) will generate the same error, even in RC2.
