It's worked for me out of the box every time - it puts /dev/scd0 as the
CD device during install. Well - not in beta1, but since I install daily
it was gone fast.

It's always been that way, for me. Annoying, but not overly so.

you're not using devfs?

i just tested, everything worked out of the box (both in ide and in scsi
emulation)

the only pb i found is i can't open the tray using grip interface when there
is no cd-audio

I'm afraid that with the new betas I've installed, I can't use one of
the most used applications (at least on my machines) -- grip.

Whenever I fire it up, it says:

# grip
Error: Unable to initialize [/dev/cdrom]

Yep, there wasn't a /dev/cdrom symlink to my cdrom (in this case being
/dev/scd0) so I created it.  Still doesn't work.  Even *with* the
symlink, it complains.  Any thoughts?
