strange, how much memory have the kernel BOOT detected? 64M should be
 all right!

Specifying the mem= can't hurt, but I'm with pixel hows that help..

[Cooker] minor problems

2000-01-01 Thread Tarjei Skorgenes

I finally finished downloading oxygene here tonight. I tried to install it
just to try it out but I had some problems during installation:

1. Export mode doesnt let you choose wich cd-rom you want to install from.
If I run the normal installation I get to choose which cd-rom I want to
install from, eg hdc, scd0, scd1. In expert mode I can just choose between
hdc and scsi cdroms. It only tries scd0 if I choose the scsi one.

2. The mouse didn't work in X. Tried "insmod serial" but it didn't work.
"insmod_ /tmp/serial.o" fixed it.

3. After loading the second stage ramdisk the machine reboots all by
itself unless I specify "mem=128M" when booting from the CD-ROM. I suspect
the problem lies with my bios, since other 2.2.x kernels only detect 64M
unless I specify mem=128M.

Warning: the following could fry your computer.

Is Plug-n-Play OS turned on in BIOS setup? If so, turn it off.
Trying disabling various ROM shadowing options too.

Make sure the operating system setting is "non-OS/2" or similar.

En réponse à Pixel [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
paranoid is what asked for :

Yes, but even if my password was 10 letters long, it was based on dictionnary
word ...

After, I tried to install lilo and it wrmed me than my HD is too
 large.I knew
but I tried. It didn't work and after when I select X configuration,
 it said me
  that "a lilo error occured".
so what can we do? suggestions?

Yes, I can't finish X Installation, because every time, I checked "Ok", it said
me that I had a Lilo error.

I hate to be a pain but I've tried repeatedly to unsubscribe from this list.
Can anyone point me to the instructions? I'm obviously missing a step.

TIA,

[Cooker] Minor problems during install

1999-12-08 Thread diablero

I have installed Cooker (version of friday night, 3/12) and I had some minor
problems:
* I have selected "paranoid" installation and I try a password of 8 letters,
which is my NetBSD/NIS password (so it's secure, normally) and it said "too
simple". I tried a password of 10 letters (qwertyuiop) and it worked.

After, I tried to install lilo and it wrmed me than my HD is too large.I knew
but I tried. It didn't work and after when I select X configuration, it said me
that "a lilo error occured".

And last, a secure script contains a error (a missing ")

And during the package selection, I wasn't sure that the package was selected
because of the colors.
