Bug#671701: RFS: autofs/5.0.6-1 [ITA] -- kernel-based automounter for Linux
Hello, On Sun, May 6, 2012 at 7:01 AM, Michael Tokarev wrote: > I'm very much interested in this package myself, and > wanted to do some packaging as well, but got distracted > by other things, and especially by the famous 32/64bit > user<=>kernel space interface issues we found recently > (there was several threads on LKML about it and a feature > LWN article). I was also interested for this package since I uploaded a version in #671436 a few days ago with less modification for a first update. Please consider closing it since the package from Dmitry seems more complete. I'm also interested to be a co-maintainer. Bug#671452: autojump uses #!/usr/bin/env python3 instead of #!/usr/bin/env/python
Package: autojump Version: 18-1 Severity: important The package maintainer added a patch to prioritize Python 3: patches/use-python3.patch -#!/usr/bin/env python +#!/usr/bin/env python3 Users downstream are experiencing problems because some have reverted back to Python 2 and can no longer use autojump. The program was designed in mind to support both Python 2 and 3, but the patch forces users to use Python 3. A lot of Python libraries have not migrated to Python 3, so it's likely to see a large number of users on Python 2 for a long time. Please remove / revert this patch so that both Python 2 and Python 3 users can continue using autojump. Thanks, William Ting

Bug#665824: [Aptitude-devel] Bug#665824: possibility for the user to mark installed packages with some kind of text
Hi, thanks for your answer. $ : non root prompt # : root prompt - Problem using add-user-tag : the following command does not complain (in non root prompt). I have no special multi-arch system (AFAIK) : $ aptitude add-user-tag test emacs then the following command does not succeed (gives nothing) : $ aptitude search '?user-tag(test)' To make it work, I need to be root. Which is ok, but I should have received a warning or an error, right? As root : # aptitude add-user-tag test emacs then no mater root or not, it works : $ aptitude search '?user-tag(test)' - get a command to list active user tags, such as : $ aptitude show-user-tags or : $ aptitude show user-tag - get a command to search packages and see their tags : $ aptitude search em i emacs test, foo i emfoo bar i barem other-tag Thanks a lot for your answer. The given command gives 1225 packages : $ aptitude search '~i!~M' In my case, such a list is clearly not manageable! The ubuntu command : aptitude search '~i!~M(!~tubuntu-desktop!~tminimal!~tstandard!~tprint-server)(!~n^grub$!~n^linux-!~n^aspell$!~n^openoffice.org-l10n-common$((!~n-fr$!~n-fr-)|~ndoc-fr$))' gives 103 packages, which starts to become manageable! So, clearly, having a command such as this one, given in the man page, that would give the 103 packages, would be very interesting : $ aptitude search ~user But I can fully understand that aptitude is not able to do it. Indeed, that would require a definition of what is from the distribution and what is not, which does not seam easy. The old style tasks have been phased out and replaced by meta-packages with names beginning with "task-". As a result of this it is now possible to have the dependencies of a task marked as automatically installed and thus most of the clutter in your preferred search ("!~tubuntu-desktop" etc.) will no longer be needed. However, if you had upgraded from an older system it is likely you will have to select each task that is installed and mark the dependencies before this is useful. I don't believe it will be worth anyone's effort to attempt to define a "distribution/non-distribution" distinction between packages. "However, if you had upgraded from an older system it is likely you will have to select each task that is installed and mark the dependencies before this is useful" : Could you please be more specific on the commands to run ? - with all your combined answers, I will try to update the debian wiki with a few well thought commands... Bug#500558: Apache fails to start..
I can reproduce this behavior "out of" boot on Squeeze.. The error occurs when you have one interface that only have IPv6 address ( this happen if you call dhclient on some interface that has no link ) and have one directive listen with IPv4 address ( even if is the loopback address) on the ports.conf. Simple way to reproduce (with apache stoped): 1) Edit the ports.conf with: listen 127.0.0.1:80 2) Remove the network cable and execute: dhclient 3) Kill the dhclient with CTRL+C 4) Execute "ifconfig" to confirm that your iface now have a IPv6 address 5) Try to start apache2 I will try to debug why apache turn in error even if have my loopback has IPv4 address. -- William Felipe Welter -- Consultor em Tecnologias Livres william.wel...@4linux.com.br www.4linux.com.br -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#644362: linux-image-2.6.39-bpo.2-686-pae: hpacucli hangs when creating disks on cciss
Mike/Steve C/all, Our code does have logic regarding kernel versions as Steve C mentioned. I have my devs looking into if they have already addressed these concerns. From: Miller, Mike (OS Dev) Sent: Thursday, October 06, 2011 9:47 AM To: Ben Hutchings Cc: scame...@beardog.cce.hp.com; 644...@bugs.debian.org; Jonathan Nieder; ISS StorageDev; leo weppelman; Kilcoyne, William Subject: Re: Bug#644362: linux-image-2.6.39-bpo.2-686-pae: hpacucli hangs when creating disks on cciss On 10/06/2011 09:35 AM, Ben Hutchings wrote: On Thu, 2011-10-06 at 08:03 -0500, scame...@beardog.cce.hp.com<mailto:scame...@beardog.cce.hp.com> wrote: On Thu, Oct 06, 2011 at 01:55:37AM -0500, Jonathan Nieder wrote: leo weppelman wrote[1]: I tried to reproduce the problem with 3.1.0-rc7-686-pae from experimental as you requested, but I failed. The problem is that hpacucli does not find any controllers with this kernel :-( I used the latest available hpacucli version (8.75-12.0). This version definitely works with 2.6.39. I tried strace-ing hpacucli but that didn't give me any clues. It was looking for /dev/cciss/c0d0/cciss, which is weird and might indicate that the 3.1 environment makes the hpacucli device search fail Weird. Stephen et al: any ideas? Yeah I suspect I know what's going on. There was some code in hpaaculi which was asking the question "Is this a 2.4 kernel? Or is this a 2.6 kernel?" It didn't consider the possibility of a 3.x kernel, and in the face of a 3.x kernel, it just kind of gave up. Pretty sure this bug is fixed in a released version of hpacucli because rhel6.1 uses a 3.x kernel, and I know we support that. Bill Kilcoyne might know the specifics. RHEL 6 will be sticking with what is nominally version 2.6.32, although RH continues to backport large changes from later versions. The first stable distribution with a 3.x kernel will presumably be Ubuntu 11.10 'oneiric'. Stable update 3.0.4 added a process personality flag that causes the kernel to report version numbers beginning '2.6.', and the 'setarch' command in util-linux has been updated to allow setting this flag. However. neither Debian nor Ubuntu has this new version of util-linux yet. Ben. It's sles11 sp2 that uses a 3.0.x kernel. -- mikem

Bug#614182: calc and writer crash on close if tools|macros|run macro was opened
I can confirm that the bug happens just as Alex posted--under some conditions. On one Debian wheezy system running LibreOffice version 1:3.3.2-2 I see the bug. This Debian was updated from squeeze. When Tools/Macro/Run Macro is used to invoke the macro, the macro runs, and LibreOffice crashes when exited. When the macro is invoked from a push button control or from Tools/Macros/Organize Macros/LibreOffice Base, there is no crash on exit. On another Debian wheezy system, installed fresh in Virtualbox within the past few weeks, and kept up to date, I do not see the bug. This also has LibreOffice version 1:3.3.2-2. Bug#591911: Me too
Hello, I experienced the same behaviour in Squeeze after a my first installation. I couldn't play the default score and when I tried to save it the "mscore.real" process used 100% of the CPU load. I solved it by unchecking the "Portaudio" option from the "I/O" tab, in the "Preferences" menu. Consequently I'm now able to play the "promenade" score and the "Save As..." option do not freeze MuseScore anymore. Bug#607783: didiwiki: Please replace current Didiwiki 0.5 with "Amigo's 0.8 Didiwiki" from the PuppyLinux project
Package: didiwiki Version: 0.5-9 Severity: wishlist Work by the original author has stopped, and the package is ageing. A much improved version was released on the PuppyLinux forums for their distro that adds new features, namely: * Ability to delete pages via web UI * An index page listing all didiwiki pages, even those 'orphaned' ( not linked to by others ) * An edit preview capability See http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=47185 The Debian 'didiwiki' in my humble opinion should adopt user Amigo's variation. As far as I know there are no other forks of Didiwiki and no features have been removed in Amigo's '0.8' version, so it should be safe to do so. The only other option is just to leave it as it is, stale at 0.5. Didiwiki is such a great piece of personal wiki software and it deserves some attention. It is great for home LANs where permissions/security ( or the lack thereof in DidiWiki ) are not a problem. Bug#544413: I can't reproduce this.
i used version 1.510-2.2+b1 (same version? not sure if you left off the b1 or if this is an update) and saved the config files after deleting the .zsnes, but it simply recreated it. It might be that you have remnants left over from older versions causing you problems, but I can't reproduce this problem.
Bug#557092: sorry
Ignore these two posts. I typed the number wrong XD
Bug#469318: This bug is still around....
This "bug" is still present in 0.3.3-6, although it should really be added to the wishlist area, not in bugs. The fact is, this is something that would take some effort to put in, not just a simple patch-in. Of course, it is a reasonable request, and would be quite useful.
Bug#557092: 557092 change

Bug#577092: There is still a UFO in the game.
There is still a UFO in the game, the flying saucer that hogs fly around in. True, the one it was referring to was probably the one replaced by the homing bee, but since one still exists, there is no real reason to change it IMO. The reason they changed it to a homing bee probably had something to do with the fact that there were two UFOs in the game, as well.
Bug#601157: I don't get this bug when testing....
I am also using version 0.6.2+dfsg1-2, but this bug doesn't occur. Also, there is no player modeled after Gnuperhaps you were using an older version, but didn't report it until this version, in which case it would be "fixed" Either way, this bug hasn't occurred for me at all.
Bug#596810: here's the version number.
i should have posted this before, I'm using xterm version 261-1.
