Bug#309085: poedit should be in the same category in the menu as kbabel(kbabel is bugged also)

Bill, any suggestions, as the Big Menu Master ? :-) I am too unfamiliar with theses tools to give an advice... I just edit po files with vim. The Debian menu sub-policy says that Apps/Text:text oriented tools other than editors Apps/Programming: debuggers, etc. Apps/Editors: text editors, word processors The number of menu entries in each categories: Apps/Text:40 Apps/Programming: 151 Apps/Editors: 118 I _think_ Apps/Editors should be reserved to editors that can produce documents (even if they are only plain-text), and so is ruled out. I suppose I would favor Apps/Programming because kbabel look like a IDE. Of course it is best to add menu hints like l10n. It is also possible to use subsections of the above, but that must be done very carefully, because a subsection with only one or 2 items is ugly, so you need to expects users to have either 0 or =3 programs in this section. Once sarge is released, I will launch a dicussion to update the menu subpolicy. Afterward you will have cause to use these nifty l10n tools since you will have to update the menu-section.pot files :). Cheers, -- Bill. I am too unfamiliar with theses tools to give an advice... I just edit po files with vim. The Debian menu sub-policy says that Apps/Text:text oriented tools other than editors Apps/Programming: debuggers, etc. Apps/Editors: text editors, word processors IMHO, this makes Apps/Text the most appropriate choice. An argument pro Apps/Editors is that it's probably the first place someone would try to find a PO file *editing* tool. And, sincerely speaking I do not see manby arguments for Apps/Programming. Using message catalogs eiditing tools is not strictly speaking directly related to Programming and I find quite unnatural to have to look here to find kbabel, poedit or gtranslator. I suppose I would favor Apps/Programming because kbabel look like a IDE. Of course it is best to add menu hints like l10n. It is also possible I keep the suggestion of a l10n hint...you recently explained me the use of menu hints. Good opportunity to use one. Let's wait for kbabel and gtranslator maintainers input. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Using message catalogs eiditing tools is not strictly speaking directly related to Programming and I find quite unnatural to have to look here to find kbabel, poedit or gtranslator. FWIW, kbabel went into Apps/Programming partly because it ships as part of the KDE software development kit, partly because it forms a key part of developing software (if not developing actual C/C++ code), and partly because upstream KDE have chosen to install kbabel in the Development section of the K menu. Having said this, I'm not actually tied in a deep way to any particular option. b. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
