The only change I see is that if you had enabled the plugins settings called "load plugin when neccessary" I see indeed that audio starts to run but not video. Beware of this. I have no other option to totally disable the plugin or play all the flash contents everywhere, which is slow and cpu consuming. flash in konqueror
Hi, I have unstable's version of kde on my x86 computer. I know there was an issue with running the latest flash with konqueror and did see some bug reports and fixes that were added. I was just wondering if we are still waiting on fixes to use flash with konqueror, or there I need to remove some dot file, reload some plugin to get flash to work. Not a big fan of iceweasel and prefer to use konqueror for my web surfing if I can. Thanks, John -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Re: Flash in Konqueror
Hello John _et_al_, I'm having the same Konqueror/Flash problem on fedora6 running Konqueror 3.5.4-12.fc6; Flash on FireFox works fine, Konqueror nay. javascript enabled globally; plugins tab shows /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so which is the same one firefox is using. This is a new installation, so there's no old version of flash to foul things up. Thanks, Alex -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Solved: Flash in Konqueror
I purged flashplugin-nonfree and installed it again. In konqueror->settings->plugins I changed the search directory list from /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/ /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins $MOZILLA_HOME/plugins to /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins/ After restarting konqueror, the flash stuff for youtube works. Some plugins are still missing (e.g. kaffeine plugin), but i think it is just about adding one or the other directory to the list. Hope that helps a bit. Re: Flash in Konqueror
Hi, same here (latest SID). As far as I remember, youtube never worked. Where the video should be played the text 'Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player' is shown. Java and Javascript are enabled globally. Packages that are installed: libflash-mozplugin konqueror-nsplugins konq-plugins flashplugin-nonfree In konqueror settings->plugins there are the following plugin search directories: /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/ /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins $MOZILLA_HOME/plugins maybe something is wrong or missing??? Obviously konqueror-nsplugins puts its .so files into /usr/lib/kde3. But adding this directory to the search list causes 'search for plugins' to crash. Any ideas? Regards, Tim Rühsen

That's pretty much the same as I've done with the above versions of Flash; they all show up nicely in Iceape's "About Plugins" dialogue and also in Konqueror's Plugins panel; but still Flash does not always work correctly in Konqueror. Some simple animations work, but YouTube and MySpace slideshows don't, nor do some "Just Played" pages from radio stations, and some websites actually report that the browser has "passed invalid data to the server". Certain types of links also fail to activate. As Flash seems to be working for some Konqueror users, I'm wondering if there is something I need to install or configure to complete it. Any clues? flash (in Konqueror) not loading local swf files
Hello, I have got flash (using Konqueror) working and loading up swf files via the web. Now I am trying to view a local flash file (.swf) within the browser and I am unable to do so... Konqueror seems to be trying to display it. The status bar in Konqueror says "Loading Netscape plugin for file:/home/ss/file.swf" for ever and nothing ever loads. Looking around a bit I see a "nspluginviewer" process has been loaded but there's no response from the flash file in any way. I am wondering if anybody is able to load local swf files in konqueror. If so did you do anything special? and what's your setup? If anybody has had this problem please let me know as I want to make it work. I am using Debian with KDE 3.1.4 and I have installed konqueror-nsplugins 3.1.3-1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ss. __ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! Re: Shockwave flash in Konqueror
You wrote: > My main concern actually is that without it a visit to a flash > site causes Konqueror spawn a number of windows going to the > flash download page.. What qt package are you using? I used to have a similar problem, and eventually tracked it down to the fact that I was using the libqt2-gl (which has support for the Qt OpenGL extension, but which is unnecessary for 99% of OpenGL apps to work, including all the KDE OpenGL screensavers) package rather than straight libqt2. According to discussions on the main KDE lists, there seems to be some kind of namespace conflict between the flash plugin and qt-gl, which causes the flash plugin to try and call an OpenGL function rather than its own internal function, which happens to share the same name. As these functions are for quite different purposes, the function fails, and this causes nspluginviewer (the process which runs the flash plugin and is then embedded in Konqueror) to crash. This then triggers the 'missing plugin' procedure in the netscape plugin interface, which pops up a Konqui window (or several) pointing at the Macromedia download page. Qt 2.3.1 also apparently contains a number of fixups regarding handling of netscape plugins in Konqueror, however the conflict between qt-gl and the flash plugin still remains. Hopefully we'll see a proper resolution of this problem eventually, but it won't come without a bit of restructuring of the netscape plugin handling in Konqui. -- marm

I have it working here. The "trick" was to install the FLASH files to one of the directories scanned by Konqueror for plugins and have it re-scan for plugins. The appropriate menu in Konqueror to do this is in "Settings > Configure Konqueror > [Netscape Icon] > Scan Tab". Mine already had a list of directories to scan, including my Mozilla directory (/usr/lib/mozilla-9.1/plugins) and Netscape. You probably have to "enable plugins globally" under the same menu > Konqueeror Browser Icon > Plugins TAb if you want it available to all usersdunno, but I did it here & it "works". Shockwave flash in Konqueror
Hi All, Try as I might I haven't been able to get the flash plugin to work in Konqueror. Has anybody here seen it working? My main concern actually is that without it a visit to a flash site causes Konqueror spawn a number of windows going to the flash download page.. Thanks! Mark -- -- mark at geekhive dot net ==
