The only difference is more than one version of GCC are supported at the same time, so gcc-defaults and gcc-doc-defaults contain symlinks to the default versions. As packaging work in our git repos[1,2] are gerenerally completed, there're a few todos: 1. Remove gcc-doc-base from gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg (already in sid) and gcc-4.6-doc (only in debian/4.6 git branch) package. 2. Upload gcc-4.6-doc and gcc-4.7-doc to sid, at the same time upload new gcc-doc-defaults to point to 4.7. Or better, if gcc-defaults can generate gcc-doc/cpp-doc/... packages again, much work will be saved. "Package closes bugs in a wrong way" ?
Hello everybody, I uploaded a packge, gcc-doc-defaults, which closes some bugs of gcc-doc (a binary package built from src:gcc-doc-defaults). However, mentors.debian.net displays an error: "Package closes bugs in a wrong way".[1] Did I make mistakes or is it a bug of Debexpo? This package is intended as a native package, and serves only as pointers to the default version of gcc documents. The only part from upstream gcc tarball is the gcc/doc/ directory, for several license texts. The canonical/standard version of upstream tarball is at: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcc/gcc-4.9.1/gcc-4.9.1.tar.gz > 2. If you are a DM, why you don't upload the package? Because there's a new binary package, gccgo-doc, it needs to go through new queue, so my upload is not allowed by ftp masters. The rule is documented here.
