How's it going now? Samuel has done much work in packaging
gcc-4.[67]-doc, while there doesn't appear to be any real uploads.

I've updated debian/4.7 branch in my personal git repo at Alioth, you
can check it out:

  git clone git://git.debian.org/users/yixuan-guest/gcc-doc.git

It's in a similar way to GNU Make indeed. The only difference is more
than one version of GCC are supported at the same time, so gcc-defaults
and gcc-doc-defaults contain symlinks to the default versions.

As packaging work in our git repos[1,2] are gerenerally completed,
there're a few todos:

1. Remove gcc-doc-base from gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg (already in sid) and
gcc-4.6-doc (only in debian/4.6 git branch) package.
2. Upload gcc-4.6-doc and gcc-4.7-doc to sid, at the same time upload
new gcc-doc-defaults to point to 4.7. Or better, if gcc-defaults can
generate gcc-doc/cpp-doc/... packages again, much work will be saved.

No matter whether they agree to change the license, I want to have gcc

"Package closes bugs in a wrong way" ?

2012-09-30 Thread Guo Yixuan

Hello everybody,

I uploaded a packge, gcc-doc-defaults, which closes some bugs of gcc-doc
(a binary package built from src:gcc-doc-defaults). However,
mentors.debian.net displays an error: "Package closes bugs in a wrong
way".[1] Did I make mistakes or is it a bug of Debexpo?

Sorry for being late. (You mail was turned to spam by gmail ...)

I'm contacting Nikita for approval. Judging by his previous posts[1], I
think working on my side while waiting for his reply is better than
start working after his explicit approval.

@Nikita, @Samuel: Could you help me to package these packages together
or can I take over them?

I see that gcc-4.6-doc and gcc-4.7-doc need to go in first, so I suggest that
you mark gcc-doc-defaults "needs sponsor = no" until gcc-4.6-doc and
gcc-4.7-doc are in Debian.

OK, Steffen sponsored gcc-4.7-doc(already in NEW), and
gcc-4.6-doc(uploaded and maybe processing).

Do you intend to fix the "FIXME: default versions depend on arch" ?

This is fixed in the latest upload.[2]

I'll update this package to have a get-orig-source target, and a
similiar packaging style to gcc-4.6-doc/gcc-4.7-doc. Is this enough to
meet this requirement?

I see more changes to the Debian packaging than mentioned in debian/changelog.

If you mention the existence of the get-orig-source target in debian/copyright

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg"

 * Package name: gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg
   Version : 4.4.7-1
   Upstream Author : FSF
 * URL : http://gcc.gnu.org/
 * License : GFDL-1.2+ (with invariant sections, and front/back
 cover text)
   Section : doc

This upload brings documents up to date with gcc-4.4 package, and stops
to build gcc-doc-base package, as it's provided by src:gcc-4.7-doc now.

It builds those binary packages:

  cpp-4.4-doc - documentation for the GNU C preprocessor (cpp)
  gcc-4.4-doc - documentation for the GNU compilers (gcc, gobjc, g++)
  gcj-4.4-doc - documentation for the GNU Java tools (gcj, gij)
  gfortran-4.4-doc - documentation for the GNU Fortran Compiler (gfortran)
  gnat-4.4-doc - documentation for the GNU Ada 95 Compiler (gnat)

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/non-free/g/gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg/gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg_4.4.7-1.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

gcc-4.4-doc-non-dfsg (4.4.7-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Updated to upstream version 4.4.7.
  * Took many changes from gcc-4.6-doc, thanks to Samuel Bronson.
- Use version-free names for debhelper config files.
- Use 3.0 (quilt) source format.
- Set debhelper compat level to 7.
- Added extract-doc-tarball-from-upstream, a script behind
  get-orig-source.
- Added a gbp.conf.
- Build gnat_ugn the way it's built upstream, using the "xgnatugn"
  preprocessor, and update debian/extract-doc-tarball-from-upstream to
  include the needed files in .orig tarballs.
- Updated README.source.
  * Synced patches with gcc-4.4 4.4.7-3.
- removed debian/patches/from-debian-gcc-gcc-atom-doc.diff,
- removed debian/patches/from-debian-gcc-cell-branch-doc.diff,
- added debian/patches/from-debian-gcc-gold-and-ld-doc.diff,
- and updated other patches.
  * Added a patch, alpha-ieee-doc-clarification.diff, to state that
changes in from-debian-gcc-alpha-ieee-doc.diff are specific to the alpha
architecture.
  * debian/control:
- Removed gcc-doc-base (default version is 4.7 now).
- Added myself to uploaders.
- Bumped policy version to 3.9.4.
- Added git repo urls in Vcs-*.
- Build-depends: dropped dpatch, updated debhelper to >= 7.0.50~, and
  added gnat-4.6 | gnat
- Added Homepage.
- Use Breaks instead of Conflicts, gcc-4.4-doc now breaks gcc
  (<= 2.7.2.3-4.3) and gcc-docs (<< 2.95.2).
  * Added watch file.
  * Updated copyright file, based on gcc-4.6-doc's copyright.
  * Improved README.source, and added a helper script, check_gcc_patches.

Cheers,

Guo Yixuan

by Steffen Möller, and the changes are not big.

Bug#752487: RFS: gcc-doc-defaults/5:10

2014-06-23 Thread GUO Yixuan
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

  Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "gcc-doc-defaults"

 * Package name: gcc-doc-defaults
   Version : 5:10
 * License : GNU-meta-license
   Section : doc

  The main change is adding gccgo-doc, which provides manpage
  and info links to the document of the default version of
  gccgo.

  It builds those binary packages:

 cpp-doc- documentation for the GNU C preprocessor (cpp)
 gcc-doc- documentation for the GNU compilers (gcc, gobjc, g++)
 gcc-doc-base - several GNU manual pages
 gccgo-doc - documentation for the GNU Go compiler (gccgo)
 gcj-doc- documentation for the GNU Java tools (gcj, gij)
 gfortran-doc - documentation for the GNU Fortran Compiler (gfortran)
 gnat-doc - documentation for the GNU Ada Compiler (gnat)

  To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/gcc-doc-defaults

  Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/contrib/g/gcc-doc-defaults/gcc-doc-defaults_10.dsc

  More information about hello can be obtained from http://www.example.com.

Regards,

GUO Yixuan

Thank you for being interested in this package!

I'll update it as soon as possible.

This package is intended as a native package, and serves
only as pointers to the default version of gcc documents.
The only part from upstream gcc tarball is the gcc/doc/
directory, for several license texts.

The canonical/standard version of upstream tarball is at:
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcc/gcc-4.9.1/gcc-4.9.1.tar.gz

> 2. If you are a DM, why you don't upload the package?

Because there's a new binary package, gccgo-doc, it needs
to go through new queue, so my upload is not allowed by
ftp masters. The rule is documented here. [1]

Bug#785585: RFS: gcc-5-doc/5.1.0-1 (ITP: #745968)

2015-05-17 Thread GUO Yixuan
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-...@lists.debian.org

  Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "gcc-5-doc", which is a
  different source package from src:gcc due to GFDL.

 * Package name: gcc-5-doc
   Version : 5.1.0-1
   Upstream Author : FSF
 * URL : http://gcc.gnu.org/
 * License : GFDL-1.3+ with invariant sections, and others
   Section : doc
   Description : documentation for the GNU compilers
   Vcs-Git : git://anonscm.debian.org/users/yixuan-guest/gcc-doc.git -b
debian/5
   Vcs-Browser :
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/yixuan-guest/gcc-doc.git

  It builds those binary packages:

 cpp-5-doc - documentation for the GNU C preprocessor (cpp)
 gcc-5-doc - documentation for the GNU compilers (gcc, gobjc, g++)
 gccgo-5-doc - documentation for the GNU Go compiler (gccgo)
 gcj-5-doc - documentation for the GNU Java tools (gcj, gij)
 gfortran-5-doc - documentation for the GNU Fortran Compiler (gfortran)
 gnat-5-doc - documentation for the GNU Ada Compiler (gnat)

  To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/gcc-5-doc

  Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/non-free/g/gcc-5-doc/gcc-5-doc_5.1.0-1.dsc

  Also, a git repository is available for building with git-buildpackage
  and pristine-tar.
