Ah, maybe try the 1.2.26-2? I think that is the latest in non-US

Well, my following mails suggested not to use this. :)

Anyway, further studies (accidential) showed that 'scp' also gave this
symptom, without compression. Since I use ssh with cvs, it might be
possible this is where the problem is.

ssh 1.2.26-1

Try doing a "cvs -z3 update" and see if it happens. The -z compresses any
data from the cvs update and '3' is the compress level, it uses the zlib
for compression I believe. I have no idea what the problem is that you are
having, but this may be a way to get around it.

good luck

Yeah, it's me again. :)

Also worth mentioning is that I'm running kernel 2.1.130 taken from
vger a few days ago.

I should add that I'm running the latest packages from potato.
cvs 1.9.29-1
zlib1g 1.1.3-2
libc6 2.0.100-2.1

I _just_ came to think about that I always use option "-z 3" to cvs,
i.e. compression. If I run without that, it works! So maybe the error
is in zlib somewhere.

Although, just trying to update the linux kernel from vger, it hung up
without compression too. I'm confused. :)

cvs problem

1998-12-06 Thread Tomas Berndtsson
I have a problem with cvs on a Sparcstation 5 running Debian. I don't
know if the problem really is at my side though. I'm hooked up to the
net via modem and when I run "cvs update", it sends some data over the
modem, but after a short while, before any updating takes place, the
modem always hangs up on me. This happens less often with small
directories, but then too. It never happens if I do "cvs checkout".

I also run Debian on an Atari, using the same modem, and the same ISP,
it works perfect from there. I also have a ppp connection between the
machines, and running cvs from the Atari via the Sparcstation also
works well.

My brother, running a similar system, but different modem and
different ISP, but otherwise the same setup, does not have this
problem.

All other modem traffic to/from the computer works very well.

Any ideas?
