Instalar Debían sin Cd-Dvd

2021-01-02 Thread Manuel Anguren Sanjulian
Hola

Hello Sven,

thanks for your immediate reply! I did not have opportunity to see if it works,
but I would be very astonished if it wouldn't! It seems like a perfect fit.
Interesting, I did not not about this part of systemd before.

Thanks again and best regards,

Running lighttpd as different user: /run/lighttpd still gets created with www-data user and group

2018-12-22 Thread Manuel Wagesreither
Hello all,

I'm running an minbase installation of Debian Stretch and have configured
lighttpd to run as a different, non-www-data user. However, when booting,
lighttpd does not start successfully, as /run/lighttpd is still owned by
www-data. Only when I'm chowning it to the different user, lighttpd can be
started successfully.

The system is booting from a readonly image. /run does exist there, but it not
populated with a lighttpd directory.
The readonly image gets created using debootstrap. After debootstrapping, a few
shell scripts run which change lighttpd to run as a different user.

In detail, the shell scripts are
* replacing occurences of www-data by the new username in
/etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf and /etc/init.d/lighttpd, and
* chownign the webroot, /var/log/lighttpd, /var/cache/lighttpd/compress,
/var/cache/lighttpd/uploads

At which point does /run/lighttpd get created, and how can I control the owning
user and group of this directory?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Manuel Wagesreither

Gnome Update Notifications in Jessie

2015-05-15 Thread Manuel Lorenzo
Hello all,

Gnome Update Notifications seem not to work in my vanilla installation
of Jessie.
I have read that Gnome-Packagekit should be taking care of this and
that it's a bug that is supposed to be solved [1], but actually in my
system it doesn't look for updates automatically.

On the other hand, running manually Update Manager works as
expected.So I suppose the problem is related to auto checking them.

As Update Manager doesn't have any configurable options, I used dconf
to check org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.updates (which is the only
place I found that has Updates related configurations) and all seems
to be OK: it's activated and configured to check for updates every 24
hours (86.400 s) and notify them every 7 days (604.800 s).

I know I can use unattended-upgrades and other tools, but I want to
know what is happening to Update Manager: if I have to configure
something manually or I am doing something wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Manuel

If you are migrating in Linux, just copy .icedove directory to

I've done it from thunderbird to icedove and viceversa.

Although I do not know why this should be debian-related, it is a small
typing mistake:

it must be
type="img/png" data="data:image/png;base64,
iVBORw0KGgoNSUhEUgAAAIYAAADyEAQAAAByU6mOAmJLR0T//xSrMc0JcEhZcwAA...

instead of
type="img/png" data="data:base64,
iVBORw0KGgoNSUhEUgAAAIYAAADyEAQAAAByU6mOAmJLR0T//xSrMc0JcEhZcwAA...

It is actually documented in the W3C sheet you refer to.

hi vuki,

you can achieve this by using dovecot sieve
(http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sieve)

for example:
if header :contains "From" ["foobar.com"] {
fileinto "foobar";
}

logrotate won't finish, high cpu usage

2010-06-07 Thread manuel
Hi!

recently i've been experiencing problems with logrotate, each time it runs
it
gets kinda stuck and eats up the systems cpu for days without finishing (i
don't have that many/big logfiles to rotate)

the output of "logrotate -d -v /etc/logrotate.conf" just stops at "reading
config info for /var/log/btmp"

the logrotate configuration for /var/log/btmp looks like this:
> /var/log/btmp {
>missingok
>monthly
>create 0660 root utmp
>rotate 1
> }

when i run strace on the logrotate pid i get the following message
appearing
over and over again..
> stat64("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2211, ...}) = 0

logrotate is running in a linux-vserver-guest
version: logrotate-3.7.1-5
kernel: 2.6.26-2-vserver-686 #1 SMP Wed Feb 10 10:39:33 UTC 2010 i686
GNU/Linux

i can't really tell what time it has stopped working and what changed at
that
moment, but it has been working for a while before.

thanks in advice

manuel hofer

Debian and touch-screens

Hi all.

I´m working in a project that we would like to install in a touch-screen
compact computer. My intention is to use Debian as the OS, and i'm searching
for that kind of hardware with support for Debian/Linux. Most of them support
Windows but it´s not clear if Debian will work as well. I've found some support
for touch screens (some models), but not clear for integrated/compact systems.
Someone knows where to look for?, or has some experience?, some URL?

Lenny stable does not assign correct permissions to USB devices

Hola list,

  After my migration from Lenny testing to Lenny stable U'm unable to import

An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not claim the USB

For debugging messages, please use the --debug option.
Debugging messages may help finding a solution to your problem.
If you intend to send any error or debug messages to the gphoto

gphoto2 as follows:

   env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=my-logfile.txt --list-files

Please make sure there is sufficient quoting around the arguments.

This error is in the gphoto FAQ but the problem here is not related to
additional modules, what is happening is that USR dev files are asigned to
root:root

$ lsusb

$ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/005/004

If I did change to one of my assigned groups all works as required

$ sudo chgrp -R powerdev /dev/bus/usb/*

There is no file in folder '/store_00020001/DCIM/100CANON'.
There is no file in folder '/store_00020001/MISC'.

... so the problem is related to runtime assigned permissions

The problem is provably related to the testing-to-stable migration. I do not
know which is the package related so I can't report it as a bug

By using REJECT instead of DROP, you have no stealth. This means
you can be port-scanned to look for weaknesses, e.g. unpatched
OpenSSH vulnerabilities, etc.

That said, if SSH traffic is blocked, an OpenSSH vuln. might not be
significant. If you're allowing and inbound traffic, though, any
unpatched flaws in the app servicing that inbound traffic could expose
your system to attack.

Also, by REJECTing rather than DROPping, you might be more vulnerable
to DoS attacks.

Consider using a default (LOG and) DROP policy instead. Michael Rash's
site (www.cipherdyne.org ) has some good
resources for learning about this and implementing it.

Hi, i would like to read opinions about my firewall settings:

I am using Iptables with Shorewall (frontend) and my configuration is:

- Default Policy: REJECT all connections.

- Rules: Allow DNS (my DNS servers), allow http and https connections
for servers: www.google.es, ...

So, nobody except these servers can connect with me (inbound and outbound).

This type of configuration is secure? How could they attack me?

Well, even if the improvement is not great, it's an improvement. So it's
cool given that my basic problem was just to get the thing working at all.

Alsa and virtualbox-ose. I tried with alsa-source from sid as well as
from testing, and virtualbox-ose-source only from testing (I'm basically
running testing except when I *need* bleeding edge versions).

Yes, actually it's ok. I forgot to rename the 2.6.26 directory to
2.6.27-rc5 after patching it, so that's why I thought it was using the
wrong headers.

Oh yes, exactly. I had this problem while trying to compile the modules
for virtualbox. Would a symlink be fine to make sure everyone can find
semaphore.h where it expects it?

Thanks,

Wow. Here I can't do tests since my only other local machine has slow
wifi, but yes, ath9k form 2.6.27-rc5 works fine too (except that that
card won't reconnect to the AP if it goes down then up unless I reload

Well, since ath9k is working well, I don't think I'll try to go back to
madwifi. Now the only drawback is, module-assistant doesn't succed any
more in building modules: I'm under the impression it tries to use the
2.6.26 headers...

EDUx.pt - Novo projecto (www.eduxpt.org)

2008-01-02 Thread Rui Manuel Martins

alterações de sistema e com integração, por defeito, de software educativo;

línguas, capaz de ajudar os utilizadores no uso destas ferramentas;

distribuido noutros idiomas que não o português;

Proprietário;

A comunidade WebTuga (www.webtuga.com <http://www.webtuga.com/>)

Cumprimentos

/proc/cpuinfo doesn't show "em64t" but does show if your cpu support
64b. It's indicated by the presence of the lm flag (Long Mode).

But yes, Intel Core 2 is 64b, that's the main difference between the

Re: insurance software

2007-02-01 Thread Manuel Souto Pico

Hello,

Like a month ago I posted a question. I'd like to thank you for your
replies, I'll send them to my friend so he'll have more information to
decide.

All the same, your replies coincide with what he thought (that it would be
difficult to find any free software solution for such a specific business
area).

Doug, I think what he needs is too complex to be worth developing from
scratch..

Clive, if he's interested he'll reply to your questions so I'll give you
more information.

Kev, what are monitary bounties?

Cheers! Manuel

If you can't find a ready-made free solution, you can piece it together:
a database (e.g. postgresql), with a custom front-end in python.

Doug.

I think you will struggle to find a direct replacement for proprietry
insurance systems but more information might help. Is this life or
general insurance and what does he want to do with the information?

A database or PIM application may do what he wants but it will require
time and effort to learn/develop a solution.

Hi Manuel,
I am not aware of any specific software for the Insurance industry. You
might check freshmeat.net and sourceforge for something. Although there
may be something that can be adapted to his/her needs. Maybe he/she can
write a specification for this software and see if anyone may want to do it.
There are even people who create monitary bounties for software.

Kev

bug hda VS sda

2007-01-17 Thread José Manuel Ruiz

Severity: media

perfectamente.

Aquí es donde llega el problema. Una vez instalado corriendo el
sistema (GNU/Linux Debian 4.0) totalmente estable, decidí formatear mi
antiguo disco

This could be helpful:

But if you have root access and are backing up an entire filesystem, you
could remount with noatime option, for example:

mount -o remount,noatime /foo
rsync -ax /foo/* /bar
mount -o remount,atime /foo

latex pdfetex elatex

2006-03-21 Thread Manuel . Yguel
Hello,
I was unable to obtain dvi files with the latex program from tetex-bin testing
package (it was a symbolic link towards pdfetex that seems to refuse all my kind
of "--output-format dvi" commands).
Thus I downgrade all the tetex package into stable version and then when trying
to use latex it fails with the following error message:

This is e-TeX, Version 3.14159-2.1 (Web2C 7.4.5)
(Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

After reading the faq and recompiling all the fmt format: same consequences.

!!> But when I try elatex, IT WORKS. Therefore latex, elatex are symlinks
towards the same program etex!
Thus I conclude that somehow etex analysis the way the program is launched,
which is a bit obfuscating for me.
In the same manner, pdfetex which was working on my testing version, now does
not work anymore but pdflatex does.
I finally fix my config with an alias from latex to elatex.
I find it not pretty, but for the moment I can have both dvi and pdf generated
which is very nice.

Is there anywhere a good description of what etex does in which version ?
The manual pages seems to say that all I tried should have worked, but it
didn't.
Thanks and I hope that my workaround would be usefull for some other debian
users.

Manuel

Is it possible to adapt freeradius to ms windows EAP without

Hello.

I've set up something similar, but I couldn't do it with debian
package. That package does not include rlm_eap_tls.so, so it does not
work. Finally I've downloaded source from freeradius web site and
I've compiled it (version 1.0.5). Now it works ok.
It is not a config problem but a compilation problem, I mean, library
rlm_eap_tls.so is needed for TLS but it's not included (I don't know
why) in the package.
Compiling from source is easy. Now I have it working with EAP-TLS and
PAP with users in LDAP and clients with OS/X, Windows XP, Windows
Mobile 2005 and Linux.

Manuel - you still have something wrong with your user. Look at
the line immediately above. It says:

   "Access denied for user 'postfix'@'localhost'.

So when postfix/courier is doing a mysql database lookup, it is
presently doing so as user 'postfix'. Yet you state that you've set
up everything to be user 'provider_admin'.

So check your entries in the mysql DB again in the user and db
tables.

Also, in /etc/postfix, you should have something similar to:

mysql-virtual_domains.cf
mysql-virtual_email2email.cf
mysql-virtual_forwardings.cf
mysql-virtual_lists_transport.cf
mysql-virtual_mailboxes.cf

Double check that each of these is correct. For example, my
mysql-virtual_domains.cf file has:

user = vmail
password = xxx
dbname = provider
table = domains
select_field = transport
where_field = domain
hosts = 127.0.0.1

... and in my mysql db, in the user table, I have a user named
'vmail' that is only allowed to log in from localhost and has no
default priviledges. In the mysql database, db table I have an
entry for User 'vmail', Host 'localhost' and Db 'provider'. And
associated with this entry is where this user gets all the necessary
permissions for accessing the database 'provider'.

vmail is my equivalent of your 'provider_admin'.

You should be able to open up an xterm on the server and type the
following:

$ mysql -u provider_admin -p provider

... and be prompted for the password for provider_admin. If you
cannot do this and gain command line entry to the provider database,
then you still do not have the mysql db entries right for your user.

If you can do this, then I suspect you have an error in your
mysql-virtual_x.cf files.

Kevin

In your .cf files you've identified the user as "provider_admin".

Have your created a user in your mysql db/user table called
"provider_admin"?

This is the main mysql db, not any of the provider db/tables you
might have created. This user (in your case 'provider_admin') does
not need any priviledges in the user table. You do that in the
mysql/db table.

So in this same db (mysql), you'll also need an entry in the db
table. You should make an entry where user=provider-admin,
db=provider, and host=localhost.

Recapping:
--
   Database:   mysql

   Table:  user

   create a new user 'provider_admin' with no priviledges

--

   Database:   mysql

   Table:  db

   create an entry for:

   user=provider_admin
   host=localhost
   db=provider (i presume)
--

Hi,

I just had the same problem. It seems to me that if you don't want the
messages to be stored at all you should stop them from being logged.

I installed kmyfirewall to manage my iptables. It generates the iptables
script automatically. The following lines enable logging:

for i /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/*/log_martians; do
echo 1 > $i
done

So if you just dont want to log the packages change it to:

for i /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/*/log_martians; do
echo 0 > $i
done

It works for me.

I compiled with additional support for e100, e1000, 3c59x.
This CD detects the Raid controller, but basic system installation has
to be done over the network (DHCP works).

I had exactly the same problem as you after i upgraded my debian. I think the problem
is related to key mappings. To solve the problem you can rename the .Xmodmap file in
your home folder to .Xmodmap.bak or whatever you want, so gnome doesn't loads this
configuration file. It works fine for me.

> mv .Xmodmap .Xmodmap.bak

php4-odbc problem

2004-02-18 Thread Manuel Martínez Valls
Hi,

  I've a little problem with a Debian woody machine with the postgresql-7.4
deb package downloaded from:

ftp://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/binary/v7.4/debian/ woody/main/binary-i386/

  When I use the substring sql command from a php script via an ODBC DSN I
get no result. By example:

  $query = "select SUBSTRING(field_name,3)from table_name;";

  echo "$query";
  $resul = odbc_exec($conex, $query);

  if ($resul == 0){
 printf("Error %d \n", $resul);
 exit ();
  }

  $number_of_rows = odbc_num_rows($resul);
  if ($number_of_rows > 0)
  {
 for ($i=1; $i < $number_of_rows + 1; $i++)
 {
$ret = odbc_fetch_into($resul, &$field);
echo "field_name=$field[0]";
 }
  }

   This code returns a lot of empty rows.

   If I use the same query using the isql tool (with same DSN), i get the
same number of rows with the correct.

   The rest of the php odbc scripts work fine, the only problem is with the
queries containing SUBSTRING queries...

booting problems after installing lm-sensors kernel modules from sid / can't mount root fs

2003-09-18 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek
Hello all,

A couple of days ago, I installed these packages from sid:
 lm-sensors-2.4.21-4-k7 2.8.0-1
 i2c-2.4.21-4-k7 2.8.0-1
I have done this before many times, to save myself the trouble of
compiling these kernel modules myself. I'm running a testing system with
the 2.4.21-4-k7 stock kernel, you see.

Anyway, this time it didn't work out. When I rebooted my system next
time, there was some error during boot which had at least this text in
it "S20modutils Segmentation fault". So, my interpretation is that
during the loading of these new kernel modules, there occured a
segmentation fault in the module load program. After this message there
was a little bit more text (about USB), but then a hang.
In other words: I couldn't boot the system anymore.

OK, but I still have the LinuxOLD entry in my LILO menu. Since I'm
running stock kernels, this should be starting my previous kernel
anytime. So, I chose the option, and it booted until it had to mount the
root fs. There I got a kernel panic: can't mount root fs. (No clear
reason was mentioned...) Oops. My root fs is /dev/hda6, which is an ext3
fs. Even specifying

root=/dev/hda6". Also, this didn't work out: again a kernel panic,

about "unsupported optional features".

I tried some more tricks, like making boot floppies with a bf2.4 flavour
(of Woody), which I got from some Debian FTP. No go, can't mount root fs.

I tried some more suggestions from people in #debian on
irc.freenode.net, but nothing worked.

In the mean time, I have fixed my "Linux" boot, by using a Knoppix cd
and removing the module names from /etc/modules. However, I still can't
boot my LinuxOLD stuff.

Is there anyone who can tell me what is going wrong?
I know I could boot my LinuxOLD thing in the past. It's just a long time
ago I needed it.

Does Debian support IDE disks with more than 128GiB or IDE 48bit addressing?

2003-08-26 Thread Jose Manuel dos Santos Calhariz

Hi,

I have a Samsung disk with 149GiB of space and my experience is
mixed.

What you know, or you experience with disks with more than 128GiB
working with Debian (Woody or Sarge)?

As I said my experience is mixed. The motherboard is an Asus A7V with
the last BIOS that supports 48bit addressing, have two IDE controllers
Ove VIA VT82C686/VT82C586B and the other is Promise 20265. Both of
them identify the right size (149Gib) and I can make the partitions
with fdisk or cfdisk without problems with Debian kernels 2.4.21-3-k7
and 2.4.20-3-k7 or a personalized 2.4.21 to include lmsensors, i2c,
alsa, and nvidia-kernel. I have an woody system with some packages
upgraded to sarge.

I can make a file system with more than 128GiB if connected to the VIA
controller, but connected to the Promise I will have a corrupted file
system.

- So I believe that kernel 2.4.21 with Promise don't support IDE
48bit.

- With VIA controller I have doubts, at least one time I had data
corruption. That caused me to lose the extended partition with all my
Linux file systems, more than 120GiB of data on LVM volumes.

Gnome Panel and Gnome 2 migration in sarge; user problems

2003-06-23 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek
Hi all,

I'm running testing and update every couple of days.
For my desktop I use WindowMaker and the Gnome panel to launch apps and
have some cool applets in (Gnome Tasklist, CPU/Mem Usage Applet, CPU
Load Applet, a swallowed pload, Mail check applet, ASClock, Mixer
Applet, etc). I really use these applets a lot!

Yesterday I noticed that a large number of Gnome packages were migrated
to 2.2, and so was the Gnome panel. The first problem was that 'panel'
didn't work anymore, but that was easily solved by changing my .xsession
script to run 'gnome-panel' instaed.

Allright, all my Gnome 1 stuff was gone; not strange, since everyting is
now in the ~/.gnome2 dir, it seemed. OK, not a big problem, I thought,
I'll just put the same applets and launchers in the Gnome 2 panel.
Several problems occurred:
- the Gnome terminal launcher that was in the predefined default top
panel doesn't work: it pops up a message that it failed to launch...
- there was no way to change the panel type. I wanted a 'corner panel',
but I couldn't change the panel type of the two edge panels. Easily
solved: remove the panels and create new ones.
- Trying to populate the panel I found the following problems:
  - The equivalent to the tasklist doesn't work: it remains empty,
although many windows are in the screen
  - THere are hardly any applets!
There was no (good) equivalent for
- the CPU/Mem usage applet
- CPU Load Applet
- ASClock, only a very simple textual clock, with unconfigurable
background color
- a Netload applet (like the swallowed pload), only textual ones
- the Mixer applet
- XMMS applet
  - There's no possibility to swallow apps

To get some more applets available, I tried to install some Gnome 2
packages that were still in unstable and not in testing. This at least
gave me some sort of CPU/Mem/Net/Swap applet, but it isn't just as good
as the one I was used to... (that one was very clear and compact.)
Also, this gave me a mixer applet (which doesn't have a configurable
color... again a grey thing in the nice purple panel...)

What is the problem? Are there very little applets available because no
one is porting the old 1.4 applets to 2.x?

The result is that I have a very crappy Gnome panel now, while I used to
have a very nice, almost fully working (there was some graphics
corruption in it (since I applied a theme)) panel :-(

Is this going to be fixed?
Did I find bugs?
Is it a matter of time before new applets will be ported?
Or have I overlooked things?
What about a better way to migrate for the user?
What can you advise me?
(ARgh, I don't want to downgrade!!)

Thanks in advance for any response... and please Cc: to my personal mail
address.

Best regards,

a quite frustrated

Manuel Bilderbeek

We have now 2 PC (one Pentium 120 and one Pentium MMX) working 24/7

Hello Dave,

where did you read to do a "touch /forcefsck"? In my opinion
this command only creates a file called "forcefsck" in the root
directory if not already there. Not more or less.
I can only guess that by issuing this command, you turn off
further file system checks at boot. But I can not believe that
this works that way (see point 4) below).

In the past I also converted from ext2 to ext3 by doing the
following:

1) Compile ext3 support into your kernel
2) tune2fs -j /dev/hda2
3) Modify your /etc/fstab to use ext3
4) Deactivate all further checks as they are no longer needed:
   tune2fs -c 0 -i 0 /dev/hda2

So I think that your "touch /forcefsck" should do what I have
done in point 4).

Greetings,
Manuel.

Yes, you are right. Some time ago I used another script based on rsync (that I
think it's available in stable) but people that manages the network where I
work used to close as many ports as possible, and of course they closed rsync
ports. So, now I use debmirror based script. But I use testing or unstable

I'm configuring a local mirror in my laptop in order to install Debian in

have to configure apache in order to allow other computers to get installed

Be careful, each command MUST not be split unles you use \ character at the

Debian unstable doesn't have security updates, but stable does. So, I've
commented last block.

Hope this helps.

RE: Xfree 4.2.0 and KDM

2002-06-03 Thread Jose Manuel
I had done a "dpkg --get-selections", and I got the list of all packages
previously installed. So I deleted XFree 4.2 and did "dpkg --set-selections"
and used dselect to install and configure packages.
I don't know if there is an easier way to do this, that was what I did.

Jose Manuel

What is the best way to downgrade? Is it to remove all X components and
reinstall? or is there an automatic way?

Thanks.

Hello all,

I have just installed XFree 4.2.0 on two machines and found KDM has
stopped working. Has anyone else encountered this problem. Does anyone
have any pointers on how to solve it?

Thanks.

X 4.2 problem

2002-05-24 Thread José Manuel Pérez
Hi all.
I've recently installed unofficial Debian X 4.2 packages and now i can't run
OpenOffice. It gives the following error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ openoffice
running openoffice setup...
I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "spanish"
I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "C"
/usr/bin/openoffice: line 27: 11555 Violación de segmento
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/setup -R:/etc/openoffice/autoresponse.conf
setup failed.. abort

I've tried both OpenOffice Debian package and tarball.

Kdm breaks too.

I'm using testing and kernel 2.4.18.
Somebody knows what can cause this?

Thanks and best regards,

Woody is quite tolerable, now I've got to computers upgraded to woody with no
problems. And the computer I use everyday has sid (unstable) and have no
problems by now.

testing == woody
unstable == sid

Woody cames with both kernel 2.4.x and KDE, I'm using them.

I've got same problem but couldn't solve it. I thought that
it probably was a problem with my mail server that cuts mail
headers, but it seems to be kmail/klibs related.

Some help would be appreciated.

Problem with apt-get dist-upgrade: kernel is removed

2001-11-30 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Hello,

As I do almost everyday, I upgraded my Woody Debian system with
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

However, this time I got a very strange result:
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Calculating Upgrade... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  cpio debhelper dpkg-dev initrd-tools kernel-image-2.4.12-686
  kernel-image-2.4.14-686 kernel-package nvidia-glx-src nvidia-kernel-src
The following packages have been kept back
  libsmpeg0 xmps xmps-common
29 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 9 to remove and 3 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/9001kB of archives. After unpacking 44.7MB will be freed.

However, I am running kernel 2.4.12-686! So I can't have it removed...

I tried to fix it, by installing 2.4.14 kernel image too, but as can be
seen above, it also wants to remove *that* kernel... And it also removes
a lot of other debian stuff and also my nvidia video drivers...

I guess somewhere there is a wrong dependency...!?

I've just compiled kernel 2.4.11 in both woody and potato without
any problem. Now, woody is running this kernel and it works ok.

Perhaps you've got some problem with gcc version or some library.
I've got gcc 2.95.4 on woody and 2.95.2 on potato.

Problem apache+mod_rewrite

2001-10-05 Thread Jose Manuel Perez
Hi all.
We are having some problems with Apache 1.3.19-1 and mod_rewrite.
Using rewritemap rule we've got following error message in log file:
[Thu Oct  4 12:38:23 2001] [error] [client 192.168.200.101] (37)No locks
available: mod_rewrite: failed to lock file descriptor
Aparently server is serving web pages normally. We've changed
apache max processes but error persists.
We use kernel 2.4.9.

Someone knows something about this error?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for your answer. I've finally purged the package
modifying postremoval script (lgtoclnt.postrm) at: /var/lib/dpkg/info/
to correct the error, well not at all, I've comented out the whole
script, but I don't mind because doing dpkg --purge worked ok.

Purging deb

2001-10-04 Thread Jose Manuel Perez
Hi all.
I've installed a package in my Potato but it crashed during
installation and I'd like to uninstall it. I've tried
dpkg --purge , with and without --force-??? option, but
I've not found the way to remove it. Allways I've got:

siul04:~# dpkg --purge lgtoclnt
(Leyendo la base de datos ... [reading database ...]
44862 ficheros y directorios instalados actualmente.) [4862 files and
directories installed]
Desinstalando lgtoclnt ... [Deinstalling lgtoclnt ...]
rmdir: número de argumentos insuficiente [rmdir: insuficient number of
arguments ]
Pruebe `rmdir --help' para más información. [Try ?? for more information]
[subprocess post-removal script returns error code 1]
Se encontraron errores al procesar: [errors where found procesing:]
 lgtoclnt

I have to say that this package was originally a rpm, and
I've converted it to deb. Someone knows how to remove that
package.

Thanks in advance,
