Hi all, I am running Debian Unstable. A recent X11 upgrade messed up my Matlab installation. Now whenever I try to run Matlab, I get can't load library 'libXt.so.6' error. I am sure it's a libc5 vs glibc2 problem, but I have no clue where to get a compatible libXt to get Matlab working again. BTW the current installed libxt6 version is 4.3.0-5. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks! TIA Amal -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I fixed the libXt.so problem -- but now acroread seg faults. Does anyone know anything about this? BTW, I fixed the libXt.so.6 problem by explicitly setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable and exporting it (and it has the same values as the entries in my /etc/ld.so.conf file, I don't see why the environment variable should make a difference.) Can't load library libXt.so.6
Hi, I have a problem that some people have had before. Error message "can't load library libXt.so.6" when trying to execute for ex netscape. I searched the list and found previous messages on the problem, and also a solution: check to see if directory /usr/X11R6/lib is present in /etc/ld.so.conf and then run ldconfig -v I have done that, after checking that libXt.so.6 actually exists in the directory. However, that didn't solve the problem, so now I have no clues left. Is there anybody who can think of any more reasons to get this error message? TIA Marcus

That's because Suse is using libc5 and Debian is using the newer glibc. Install Netscape using the Debian installer and grab the older libraries from section oldlibs, or download the glibc version of Netscape from their ftp. Re: can't load library libXt.so.6
I'm trying to install texbin (Debian 1.2 btw) and have run into the following error message: mf: can't load library libXt.so.6 I had exactly the same problem. The fix is to add /usr/X11R6/lib to the list of directories in /etc/ld.so.conf. Then run /sbin/ldconfig as root. This tells ld (the dynamic loader) to update its list of what directories to search for shared libraries. For some reason Metafont, among other programs, needs to be able to find the X libraries. I tore my hair out over this one too, so don't feel stupid... 8-) I figured it out only after a _very_ careful reading of the XFree86 Howto. ---Alex Chamberlain [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . can't load library
Sorry to bother the entire list, but I need to ask someone. I loaded some x games and am trying to run them. The error I am getting states as follows: xinvaders: can't load library 'libXmu.so.6' I know that there is a library environment variable that needs to be defined to the /usr/X11R6/lib but don't know what it is, nor do I know how to set it in the bash environment. Any help would be appreciated. If I am not correct, please show me what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. If I am not correct, please show me what I am doing wrong. There appears to be a bug in 1.2 that leaves /usr/X11R6/lib out of /etc/ld.so.conf . Your problem should be fixable by adding /usr/X11R6/lib to the file, and running ldconfig (as root). -- Joey, xinvaders maintainer -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
