Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cl-arnesi
  Version : 1:20051105-1
Upstream Author : Edward Marco Baringer [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL or Web page : http://common-lisp.net/project/bese/arnesi.html
* License : BSD
Description : small Common Lisp utilities

arnesi is a Common Lisp utility suite. It contains various bits 'n
 pieces of code.
 .
 Features:
  * Flow control macros - while, whichever, if-bind, etc.
  * A simple logging facility - kind-of/sort-of/maybe like log4j.
  * HTTP/HTML utilities - URL and HTML escaping
  * Pattern matching - fare-matcher style pattern matcher and regular
list matcher
  * Accumulation - collecting and reducing macros
  * Cps transformer - an ad-hoc, bug ridden implementation of half of
call/cc.
  * Decimal arithmetic - convert floats to exact rationals and vice
versa with a given precision; standard rounding functions.
  * MOP compatibility package - The MOPP package provides the MOP's
symbols on various implementations. Currently OpenMCL, CMUCL, SBCL,
Lispworks and CLISP are supported.
 .
The recommended packages add extra features: documentation via
 cl-qbook, test suite with cl-fiveam and add-ons for cl-ppcre.
 .
 This is the development version.

This is the first of a series of ITPs for Common Lisp software that is
necessary as dependency for UCW [1].

As soon as this bug will get a number by the BTS, I'll add the package
to the CL-Debian repository [2]. The package is linda and lintian
free and it follows the Common Lisp in Debian Manual [3].

Thx, bye,

Bug#350336: ITP: latex-mk -- tool for managing LaTeX projects

2006-02-01 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
* Vincent Danjean [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2006-01-31 20:21]:

Nevertheless, you can be interesting by looking at my work. If you
want, all is available here :
 http://dept-info.labri.fr/~danjean/deb.html#latex-utils

Indeed, your package looks very interesting. Do you have plans to make
it an official Debian package? When it is done, I will mention
latex-utils in the latex-mk description (BTW, latex-mk is already in the
NEW queue, see http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html).

Unfortunately, I have no time to investigate latex-utils , and ltex-mk is
fulfilling my needs for now. From a quick look at the files in
latex-utils, I see:

/usr/include/LaTeX.mk

Is this an appropriate place for this file? The FHS says:

/usr/include : Directory for standard include files.
Purpose
This is where all of the system's general-use include files for the C
programming language should be placed.

[see
http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#USRINCLUDEDIRECTORYFORSTANDARDINCLU]

I think a better place would be:

/usr/share/latex-utils/LaTeX.mk

Best regards,

Rafael

Bug#263052: Ask the OpenOffice folks...

2006-02-01 Thread Rene Engelhard
[ CC'ing -openoffice ]

Am Mittwoch 01 Februar 2006 07:23 schrieb Nathanael Nerode:

Not really. stlport4.5 existed in Debian even before OOo was uploaded.
OOo itself uses an old stlport 4.5 in it's source still and we (Debian)
switched to 4.6.

I don't think that counts as the only reason tis package exists since it
existed in the archive before already.

In any case, this package is cdbs. As there's no sane way to to use cdbs
here I won't co-maintain it (not to mention I don't really have time but
that's another story) unless normal debhelper is used and bugs like
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=292575 and
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=173395 (if it's worthwile
to fix it - can the stlport lib just be compiled with -g and we use
dh_strip --dbg-package) can be easier fixed than with cdbs...

I never wanted to package it myself; that's why I've filed an RFP in

November 2005. - Taking a second look I guess he should have taken
ownership of the bug too ;-)

Cc'ing Michael, and I'd be glad if one or both of you could come up

I use planet myself and retitled the RFP to an ITP. I've been pretty
busy and haven't yet had the time to package planet. Norbert, if you
have more time to package planet, you're welcome to do so. Otherwise,
I'll package it as soon as I get some free time (hopefully in the next

2) will the package be based on the unofficial Debian (but official

Bug#350916: ITP: ttf-sil-doulos smart Unicode font for Latin and Cyrillic scripts

2006-02-01 Thread Daniel Glassey
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Description:
The goal for the Doulos SIL font is to provide a single Unicode-based
font family that would contain a comprehensive inventory of glyphs
needed for almost any Roman- or Cyrillic-based writing system, whether
used for phonetic or orthographic needs. In addition, there is provision
for other characters and symbols useful to linguists. This font makes
use of state-of-the-art font technologies to support complex typographic
issues, such as the need to position arbitrary combinations of base
glyphs and diacritics optimally.

The Doulos SIL font contains near-complete coverage of all the
characters defined in Unicode 4.0 for Latin and Cyrillic. In total, over
2,200 glyphs are included, providing support for over 1,500 graphic or
control characters as well as a large number of ligated character
sequences (e.g., contour tone letters used in phonetic transcription of
tonal languages). Please read the documentation
(DoulosSIL4FontDocumentation.pdf) to see what ranges are supported.

In addition, alternately-designed glyphs are also provided for a number
of characters for use in particular contexts. The glyphs are accessible
in applications that support advanced font technologies, specifically
the Graphite or OpenType technologies. These technologies are also
utilized to provide automatic positioning of diacritics relative to base
characters in arbitrary base+diacritic combinations (including
combinations involving multiple diacritics).

Doulos SIL is released under the SIL Open Font License.
Doulos SIL is a trademark of SIL International.

See the OFL and OFL-FAQ for details of the SIL Open Font License.
See the FONTLOG for information on this and previous releases.
See the DoulosSIL4FontDocumentation.pdf or the Doulos SIL FAQ
 (http://scripts.sil.org/DoulosSILfontFAQ) for frequently
 asked questions and their answers.

License:
The OFL may be found at http://scripts.sil.org/OFL
It is listed on http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/index_html as a
license suitable for fonts.
debian-legal hasn't come to a consensus about the license yet so I won't
upload until that happens. I will be sponsoring the upload on behalf of
an upstream maintainer.

So... please don't give up your work. Can you provide your tries

it'd make a lot of sense to do this together with the pkg-voip group.
They already prepared packages for opal, the newer pwlib and the newer
openh323 which are required.

I talked with Kilian Krause (who packaged [1]). IIRC, he is still a bit
hesitant and wants to get it tested on some other architectures
beforehand.

Ubuntu already uses ekiga and has those packages (thanks Kilian et al)
in the archive already.

Damn, one day earlier and you would have saved me some work ;-)
I already packaged libnl because I wanted to get started with
knetworkmanager, which requires a recent version of network-manager (and
so libnl as a dependency).
Nevertheless feel free to take the ITP if you want to maintain the package.
I also saw, that you started packaging network-manager and dhcdbd (at
least your name is the last one in the changelog).
What is the current status of this ITP, do you intend to maintain
network-manager? What about the OP of this ITP [1], is there some kind
of coordination? There seems to be a great interest in network-manager
related packages so some coordination would make sense.
Is there already a timeframe for network-manager/libnl/dhcdbd?
Please also read my comment on WPA at [1].

Cheers,
Michael

Description : QT-based graphical serial terminal emulator.

cutecom is a graphical serial terminal which use the QT library. Its
functionallity is similiar to minicom and gtkterm.

Altough all the main functionalities are included, specific new functionalities
should be easy to code since there is only a single c++ code(30KB) file to
edit.

Project upstream seems stalled since last year but it works ok. It is classified
to be in beta stage. I'd hope I have the time to add more functionalities in the
future i.e.: macros or representation types.

ehrr, do you know what sort of bug is this?

this is an ITP (Intent To Package) bug. As you probably know (afaik you
are a maintainer) itp bugs must have a Description field.

this is the Description field of #270538:

Description : desktop network connection and link management system

The point of NetworkManager is to make networking configuration and
setup as painless and automatic as possible.
NetworkManager attempts to keep an active network connection available
at all times. It is intended only for the desktop use-case, and is not
intended for usage on servers.

  See my problem ..?

If the fixes are simple then apply them, but don't take over the
package. Just make an upload and set the maintainer to QA.

(Add yourself to the uploaders field).

That way people will get the fixes, but you won't adopt it officially.
